We stayed three nights and enjoyed them greatly. Jean Michelle was a great host. Great location for our day trips around Provence. Loved the location and sense of history with the narrow streets and traditional feel of France. Would stay again.

Only spent 2 nights but it was perfect. Jean Michelle was very helpful with dinner recommendations in the area. Was the perfect layover on our way to the chaos of Paris. Will stay there again if in the area.
We stayed in the Criollo suite for 2 nights and loved it. La Banastrie is quite central in the old town and you can walk to either of the main squares in <10 minutes. Being right around the corner from the Pope's Palace (with ample parking for ~10E per day) was also very convenient. The house is quite rustic looking...

Dissappointed. The website was so attractive even promising hot chocolate. Fromers found virtues which we did not.We climbed 2 flights of narrow stairs to a very sparsely furnished bedroom. Difficult to find, difficult to maneuver the car through very narrow streets. No hot water one morning and breakfast was very ordinary. We left a day early.
you are right, we did't serve you any hot chocolate on the evening because we never serve hot chocolate on evening since the Banasterie opened 12 years ago. You read it on Frommer's and I contact Frommer's to tell them to cancel that. I didn't know about this review. it's a mistake from Frommer's but not yours. So sorry. But...

My husband and I spent four nights here and used Avignon as a base to explore Provence. Both Avignon and La Banasterie were perfect locations for this. As other reviewers have written it was a little bit of a challenge to find it after parking in the parkade at the Palais des Papes-even with the detailed instructions Jean Michel had...

We spent four nights at La Banasterie and found it very comfortable, clean and well managed by its owners Jean Michel and his wife Francoise. The hotel is a smaller boutique-type accommodation with a very nice breakfast prepared each morning. It is located in a quiet, narrow street behind the Popes' Palace and within a short stroll to all the...

Ok, it's not easy to find. We had to resort to GPS on my iPad to get there. Park underground at the Palais des Papes parking facility (just over E10 per day). Emerge and face the Palais. Go to the rightmost corner and down what looks like a little alley cut into the rock with the Palais on one side....

My wife and two daughters had the pleasure staying at La Banasterie and highly recommend it to all. The owners went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The suite was ideal for the four of us. The breakfast was a delight. Location could not be better.
The owners have created a very cosy atmosphere with warm lighting and lovely furnishings. Very close to the Pope's palace. Lovely courtyard on the roof. Free WIFI. Very nice dining room. Well heated. Highly recommended.
Great location, friendly and helpful owners. Sweet dog and fiesty cat. Comfortable beds, rooms decorated eclecticly and tastefully. The chocolates provided are wonderful! We'll stay here again
