We chose Les Bonnets Rouges, Bourges as it was a convenient half-way point on our journey and had booked the Romance suite before travel. We were driving and there was room for us to park in the entrance to the courtyard. As a family of five we were catered for extremely well. Yes we booked the Romance suite, but here's... More

We stayed at Les bonnets Rouges in Bourges on our Sawday guide inspired holiday en route to the canal du midi. This is a real historic house full of antiques and seemingly fully original . The rooms are large ( we had the 2 suites ) with proper baths and a 4 poster bed in the one on the ground... More

Les Bonnets Rouges is an old townhouse in the centre of Bourges just round the corner from the Cathedral and accessed by very narrow streets. Each room or suite certainly has its own eccentric character - ours was in [many] different shades of red, pink and parchment brown, all the colours of a rose indeed. We were on the first... More

Situated in the heart of the beautiful town of Bourges Les Bonnets Rouges can be recommended as value for money. Olivier made us very welcome when we arrived and showed us to our room, we actually had two adjoining rooms with ensuite overlooking the courtyard. Breakfast was served in the building opposite and was good, with croissants, bread, yoghurts etc.... More

We stayed at Les Bonnets Rouges on our cheese and wine tour of France and loved it. I would agree that the place is charming and eccentric (in equal measures) but the owner, Olivier, is so warm and welcoming that it puts your mind at ease. Unfortunately, Olivier had accidentally written our reservation in his diary a week later than... More

Undoubtedly charming and characterful and located in an ideal position for visiting this delightful old town. Our welcome, not by the owner but by a girl, was decidedly luke-warm. Our room, in the rafters, was certaintly individual but had to be approached by a lot of quite tricky steps, which made it a bit awkward with luggage. But, hey, we're... More

Bonjour! We took a stop here in (absolutely beautiful) Bourges on the way back to Paris from the south of France (after taking in Norman Foster's bridge as well). My wife booked us into this small hotel / B&B. In summary, it's a very cute, characterful place, with a nice little courtyard, impeccable location, nice staff and traditional architecture. Unfortunately,... More

This will be our second visit which should say enough. Every step down the creaking wooden stair case, through the quaint little courtyard is like a scene from Cyrano De Bergerac . Any second you expect a nose to appear round the corner.....and no it doesn't belong to Oliver. A more charming host you could not wish for.If you want to... More

Delightful place to stay. The Tuscany room is spacious and clean. Breakfast a little haphazard but it fills you up (homemade jams are delicious). Great location for walking round the beautiful historic Bourges. Can imagine it would be chilly in winter, but perfectly warm enough for the time of year. Ate out at Malik one evening and Le Guillotin the... More

We had arranged to arrive by 4pm after a long drive. When we arrived the room was absolutely freezing with no heating (it was Feb). The person who had turned up to meet us (who was not the owner, and who was 20 mins late) turned on the heating but explained that it took some hours to warm up and... More
