Wary after the reported thefts but enchanted by the town, I booked for 2 nights and eventually stayed 4. Nice large, tree shaded site with unobtrusive security fence all around, coded entry gates and night watchmen. Felt perfectly safe, but obviously use common sense and don't leave valuables in vulnerable tents, wherever you happen to stay. Good facilities - plenty... More

Genious location on a litte island at the river Loire. Very close to the city town centre. Great for cyclists on their way along Loire. We have visited the campsite many times but this was our first trip back in 4/5 years. We were a little worried when we read about the theft issues so we rang ahead. They explained there had been a problem but this was now sorted and security increased. We arrived got a great pitch and could see straight away security... More

We had the rubber cut off our window, gas inserted, fortunately my husband woke up before they took the whole window out. They have a serious theft problem, and sadly we heard of other sites where there had been similar, La Fleche, but mostly around the Loire. so sad as we always felt safe before!

We have visited Amboise on several occasions, a beautiful town. However last August we were disappointed for several reasons. Excellent campsite with short walk to town and restaurants, security good with new fence and night watchman, nice relaxed site even when full.

From the outset this looks like a nice campsite with reasonable facilities. However, there is no apparent security. Our tent was slashed with a knife and entered by theives stealing our passports and a number of other personal possessions.
