Clean hostel and good location too... better than I thought anyway... 5' walk from Deansgate train station and 10-15' walk to the center. The hostel was nice and very clean, with comfy beds, ensuite bathroom and big lockers. Nice area by the canals on a dead end street. I booked a 6 bed dorm but got upgraded to a 4... More

Myself and another girl stayed here whilst visiting Manchester for the first time. We were going to see a concert, and to say the least, were slightly apprehensive going as just 2 young girls to stay at a hostel. Our worries soon vanished when we realized how safe the hostel was, the staff were brilliant and had lots of advise... More

The bad thing was that we had to pay 3 POUNDS MORE EACH than the rate they offered just because we weren't members of the hostal community, they didn't tell you about it in their website, or at least I didn't see it until we went to the hostel, we had to pay it because we had already had our... I was staying in the hostel from 12 till 24 february. I was there with 60 other students from all across Europe for a 2 week course at the University of Salford. The great thing about YHA Manchester is that it's very central. When you need to go to Salford University it's a 20 minute walk. The city centre? 15... More

Stayed for 4 nights during February half term. Location is good, right by the canal. Short walk to the centre of Manchester (shops) and there are lots of bars and good restaurants close the Hostel. Tesco express and Sainsburys local also close by. The Hostel was clean and warm with helpful staff. Self catering kitchen had all the appliances you... More

i've never been to a youth hostel before but if this one is anything to go by i'd definitely go to another! There were 4 of us and although we'd paid for 4 beds in a shared dorm we got a private room with bathroom as the shared rooms are only for 4 people, the bathroom is like that of... More

Being new to hostels at the age of 31, (how that happened I don't know), I have been surprised at the brilliant value and professionalism these places give. An easy 20 minute walk into central Manchester, this hostel is excellent. Modern throughout with excellent security and key card access. Great range of food, and drinks between 11am and 8:30pm. Vending... More

Travelled with children (11 and 9) for weekend in Manchester. Room adequate - bit grubby. En-suite was akin to an aeroplane toilet (or those at Monkseaton High School !). Kitchen had leaking "U Bend" and half missing oven door. Woken on Saturday morning by geese on the canal. Saturday evening the Castlefields events arena opposite had a rock concert on... More
