Only stayed for the one night but was lovely.... A lovely welcome and atmosphere. The room was clean and comfortable and cosy which was ideal for myself.... Breakfast was great too especially knowing it was freshly cooked to order unlike a lot of buffet breakfasts seen at large hotels. I would stay again when visiting Lancaster again Thankyou. Jo Mc

We stayed at this B&B for one evening because of the Lancaster half marathon. The owners were extremely welcoming and helpful. The cooked breakfast was delicious. The room was nice, clean and very peaceful. It is only a very short walk to the shops / restaurants. We would certainly stay here again.

We stayed for one night whilst visiting our son who is currently living in Lancaster. I spoke to Sally on the telephone prior to our visit and she was extremely warm and friendly and said we were welcome to drop our stuff off and have a coffee before we went to meet up with our son. The Shakespeare is a... More

The Shakespeare is in a convenient location close to the shopping area, postoffice, pharmacy and bakery, all within walking distance. The rooms are well maintained and housekeeping excellant. Sally and Fred work hard to make the stay comfortable and are more than willing to help with the stay, travel etc. Breakfasts are delicious and they make it lively and enjoyable.... More

My room was comfortable with everything I needed. Incredibly well located, clean and well kept. The real joy, however, is the way in which Sally and Fred make sure that everyone's needs are met. We were a diverse range of people over the 18 nights I stayed and many of us a very long way from home. We all no doubt... More

First time in Lancaster I will always remember this hotel and its warm hosts. I've stayed at Shakespeare for 4 days at the time the academic year started by early October. Sally & Fred were so kind and have invited my daughter to join me for the breakfast who has just settled in on the University's campus. Rooms are very... More

I stayed here only for a night when I visited the university. This as my first experience of staying in a Bed and Breakfast. I genuinely enjoyed it. The bedroom was comfortable, the bathroom well appointed. But for me tea is what makes or breaks a hotel. They had a generous room supply for tea. But when I said to... More

A Rose by any other name......B&B, Guest House, Hotel...whatever you choose to call it, this is a gem of a place to stay. Sally and Fred are perfect hosts, and I have learnt more about the Williamson/Lancaster Linoleum Industry, than I ever realised I would. Stay here, and youk won't be disappointed!

My wife and I stayed here a while ago but I've only just got around to posting a review. The landlord and landlady are wonderful people and couldn't have been more helpful or accommodating. The breakfasts are wonderful! The rooms are a little small but are clean and well kept. It's on a busy road but there is either double... More
