used to go here 5 or so years ago and the food was excellent...could never get a seat on a sunday. went recently on a sunday and the place was empty! had a beef bagguette, the beef was beautiful but the side salad was brown with no dressing. Only average. Didn't get my hopes up when I asked at the... More

The olde world charm of this character building is evident everywhere you go, the bar, the public rooms and of course your bedroom. If wood paneling and antique period styling isn't your cup of tea then don't expect to enjoy your stay, however if you put good food, good beer and friendly staff high up at the top of your... More

Well the place has bags of character and it's own excellent micro brewery. So in the original building the process of modernising rooms is really difficult, however despite those slightly primitive moans we had a great time, the staff were really helpful and courteous and long suffering but nothing was refused Yes I would return and look forward to doing... Nice hotel in traditional style; within walking distance of town centre (though a bit far from railway station). Helpful staff. I cannot confirm some complaints about cleanliness - traditional houses may look a bit grubby, but my room & bathroom was spotless. A slight nuisance is access to rooms through the pub only. More

Stayed while on business for just one night (thankfully) but was far from impressed. Room was very old fashioned, poorly laid out, a little dirty, certainly very cold and the shower/bathroom left a lot to be desired. WiFi wouldn't work, bar food was cheap but basic and the breakfast was below, while having to wait to 7.30am when on business... More

Stayed 1 night . Had a problem with my printer and turned up knowing rooms available. No problem achieving Late Rooms price of £60 per double. In fact given 4 poster room for the same price. Well appointed room for an old building. Friendly staff, large beer garden, handy for trendy restaurants and bars of Friargate. Has its own microbrewery.... More

The room was great, the beer very interesting and the staff friendly. The breakfast beggars belief it was so bad. We ate almost none of it, didn't complain as in a hurry to leave and didn't want the hassle, but if we hadn't needed to go I would have given them a blow by blow account of how poor. Sausage... More

We stayed here for 2 nights and really enjoyed our stay. We arrived at the hotel a little early but our room was ready which was great. The hotel has a large car park at the rear and was approx 10 mins walk into the centre of Derby. We had a few drinks in the bar during our stay which... More

Had just one night here whist overnight in Derby. an excellent quality B+B with Georgian style rooms and restaurant and a fine traditional style tavern serving quality real ales. I was in room 8 which had free and fast wi-fi, a super comfy 4 poster bed and multi channel flat screen TV. The room was far big enough for me... More
