This hostel is inside a really beautiful building - I can't quite remember the history of it but was it some sort of convent once?! I am not sure. It was lovely though, and great to stay somewhere interesting and special. It was clean and had lovely wooden floors, and a huge sort of sitting room with a mosaic feature... More

We have used this hostel with groups of young people as a base for hiking. From the efficient service, rooms accomodating up to 24 or so, to the comfortable lounge and homemade brown bread at breakfast, this facility is perfect for our needs.

Spent three mid week nights here with my sister and our children. Between us we had six children ranging from 14 months to 8 years. I was a bit nervous that we might disturb the other guests but it worked out brilliantly and we all had a lovely time thanks to the great staff - in the words of my... More

I have been bringing adult hill walking groups to Westport for more than ten years now and we have used Abbeywood for most of that time. The hostel suits us very well as we can travel by minibus down to the endless mountains in Conemara, but still be right beside the town of Westport for r&r. The Hostel is situated... More

I stayed at Abbeywood with two female friends. We were greatly impressed. Firstly, with the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff there. Then by the cleanliness and comfort of our room, I never slept as well in a hostel! Breakfast was delicious with home-made brown bread, toast, orange juice, tea and coffee, free of charge and we later used the... More

Stayed here with my friend (2 females) for €30 each per night. We thought it was lovely and comfortable. It was basic but had everything you need - I slept great! Rooms were spotless and bathroom/shower facilities were fantastic. We found other hotels in Westport to be far too overpriced and not worth the money. They were also full of... More

I recently booked the hostel for a group of teenagers. The team were excellant, very friendly and helpful. Anything required was provided instantly, for example there is a barrier stopping anything over 1.8m high from entering the driveway, one of the team gave me a key to it, so that we could come and go as we please, (we had...
