We stayed two nights in this B&B before escaping the dreadful weather in the area. As hikers, we particularly enjoyed the possibility to climb Croagh Patrick without any use of the car. If not lost in the fog, the view on the mountain must be fabulous. Also, the close by Bertra Beach is just 5 min away by foot and... More

We recently stayed at Bertr House for 3 nights. The weather was dreadful, but it is one of our best ever holidays! Margaret is such a great hostess - very friendly & always willing to provide the best of service. Our rooms were so comfy - clean & with all the facilities you could want. We didn't do any walking,... More

We arrived in Westport in very wet weather and were greeted with a warm Irish welcome. As it was the low season we were given the choice of rooms. The room was clean and comfortable with modern facilities and a comfortable bed. After climbing Croagh Patrick the following day we were wet and tired. Margaret was happy to dry off... More

Bertra House is perfectly located for those wanting to climb Croagh Patrick or walk the beach. We were able to avoid the crowded car park at the base of Croagh Patrick by walking from Bertra House (adds an additional 3 miles round trip to the 4.5 mile climb). The beautiful and rocky beach is also easily accessed from Bertra House.... More

Our four night stay at Bertra House was simply wonderful. Margaret Gill, the owner, was warm and welcoming. Our family felt right at home. Our rooms were well-kept and cozy. Each had a lovely view. The breakfast room also had a charming view of the fields of sheep and cows surrounding Bertra House, as well as a view of the... More

We have just returned home after spending our seventh October short break at Bertra House. Margaret is very welcoming and extremely accomodating. The rooms are modern, very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Ideally situated for a walk along the beach or a more strenuous trek up Croagh Patrick. We will certainly be back for more.

This was our 3rd stay at Bertra House. Margaret has become a dear friend. Her kindness and desire to make our stay as enjoyable as possible sets her apart from most B&Bs that we've visited. The location is unbelievable with "the Reek" looming to the south and beautiful vistas of Clew Bay and Achill Island to the west. Fabulous breakfasts... More

We had a quick stay in Bertra House (1 night only) but it was a lovely stay. Margaret was so friendly and I felt very relaxed in the house. After a tough Croagh Patrick climb the piping hot shower was just what I needed. we really enjoyed our stay here and will definately stay again if we are in the... More
