We last minute booked a night at the Salmon Weir after our previous booking was cancelled due to renovations. Sally was incredible friendly and helpful during during our stay. Location was great for the reasonable price we paid.

Very nice staff and facilities, cramped dorm, i slept well though. No breakfast included, wchich sucks, Location is very central, close to bars and restorants Very nice atmosphere, there are guitars and people get together during the evenings in comon areas o chat and drink,, if you are lucky , jam sessions. My Husband and I have stayed at this Hostel a few times now, and have always been greeted by the friendliest of staff. The rooms themselves are teenie tiny and may scare off a person who loves space and firm pillows, but here you are paying for the convenience of being right in town. The shared bathroom was tidy and... More

Arriving into Galway for a weekend, We stayed for nearly a week. We were greeted by a lovely small hostel, with plenty of room, and for what I experienced the nicest staff. Extremely friendly and welcoming. Facilities were nice and user friendly, the atmosphere was full of fun, good humour, intelligent conversation and the smell of baking was fantastic. I'd... More

It is a not a very comfy hostel, neither it is not so clean, but is very well located and very cheap. We paid 12 euros per person/day during Christmas time without reservation. It was one of the few hostels open in the city, so, in conclusion, a very good price for everything.

Stayed here with my wife and baby on a trip around Ireland. The good news - we found a place to stay on what we didn't realize until way late was the end of the Volvo Around-the-World-Yacht-Race. Hooray! Positives - - Very conveniently located, walking distance of lots to see. When we got there, a big to-do for the New... More

Stayed here in September 2012 because the location is close to the center of town and the price was reasonable but, if I had seen the rooms first I would have paid a bit more to stay elsewhere. The rooms are cramped, have high school style have lockers but, are only mildly clean. The beds and bedding are old, and... More

We stayed in a private room, which was pretty small. The bathrooms have surely seen better days, but the people were nice, and the common room was a really good one - they had a lot of DVDs and a great TV. There is also a kitchen. Internet is an extra cost. The location is good - it's in a... More

The place is overcrowded, with far too many beds crammed into small rooms. If the place is at capacity with people who have luggage, I can't imagine that it meets fire safety standards. Security for rooms and possessions is a joke. The place is not clean, it is damp and it smells. Do not stay here.

The rooms are small and the bunkbeds are in bad shape (don't hold onto the railing as you climb up and down or you may be in for a surprise). The kitchens are big, so if you want to make your own food, this may be a good choice. There are no keys - you have to ring a doorbell... More
