Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I can't believe where they get the excellent reviews. Somebody is pulling one's leg. I visited on behalf of family coming to Dublin for a week. Unfortunately their visit coincides with the Garth Brooks concert. Little availability anywhere in Dublin with sky high prices. I read the reviews and my skin crawled with thoughts of bed bugs etc. Called in for a tour. Nice enough chap showed me around. There are a few decent rooms but overall impression was very negative. I was offered a substantial discount on the rates previously quoted if I paid in full there and then. Suspicious? Advised family to keep trying or change the dates of their visit. The Victorian villa style building is nice enough in large gardens with off street parking. Well located in one of Dublin's better suburbs with good transport links into city centre. Pity about the condition of the accommodation. Is there no National Agency like Bord Failte checking these places out. Avoid.

If you would like to feel you have visited a drug den then by all means book into this bizarre slum. Otherwise book an actual accomodation business. Luckily for us we hadn't paid anything to these scamsters up front as we just called in but then they were looking for the entire amount immediately. Looking at the very shady characters sitting around I asked for a tour. Well, we were shocked. They could probably make a fortune with horror tours. We left to a very threatening and hostile atmosphere.

Please be advised this place is a scam. It should not be allowed to operate and it shocks me that the authorities have not closed it down. Upon arrival they try to take all of your money up front before you obviously try to leave and there is the mysterious manager on the phone. Their prices are actually close enough to a 4 star hotel. Only 25% cheaper. Photos are totally different to reality. The building should be condemned. I for one will be writing to the relevant authorities to get these cowboys out of business.

My room was full of BEDBUGS!! I left the hostel the first night. The place is horrible. Smells bad, full of dust, dirty. You can hear everything through the walls. The pictures are false. Please do not go there.

We wanted a cheap getaway in Dublin and found this. The photos prob show it a few years ago as it is run down and heartbreaking as it coukd be a fantastic house with a bit of love. Even cutting the grass would help. It's located in an amazing area very quiet 10 min walk to rathmines. I was a bit worried when getting the key.. Which you need to go and find the person for ringing the doorbell doesn't seem to get any response another guest let me in.. It is a bit fawlty towers. The guy who gave us the key was helpful but his mate laying out on the sofa didn't give a great impression. Our room was actually surprisingly nice.. Big and the beds and linen are really clean. The bathrooms were clean too just a bit worn. We paid 54 euros for the night which in Dublin is unheard of and for that price it was decinateky recommended. I d prob only stay a max of 2 nights. The hiyse is lovely but in desperate need of updating otherwise is fine.

We arrived in the early hours from a late ferry and as agreed the keys where left for our collection. On first sight the room was quite small for our family of 3 but the beds looked OK and clean. But that's where clean stopped. Very poorly maintained, electrical cables fed from outside through he window frame, door locks the didn't lock securely, bare light bulb hanging from the ceiling, and paint splatters on the floor and furniture. Dirty hand-marks around all handles peeling paint and a wardrobe fastened with a padlock hasp that had a selection of holes around it from many refixings. Then to the shared toilet and shower. No real security here just a small slide bolt with it's socket fastened by one screw and very loose. handles and locks surrounded by greasy hand marks and old towels on the floor. The base of the shower very dirty with mould and poor seal and grouting all around. No water came from the shower but alongside the unit was an electrical one mounter on its side. I tried this but it wasn't connected - I did not look for the power switch. Finally the toilet - messy with a loose seat which I lifted and wiped its underside with a clean pice of toilet paper - I will sure you the description......... We left first thing in the morning without paying having talked to the manager who had nothing to say except he would contact "the team" and then disappeared.. Apart for the outside image we did not see anything that appeared to match the photos posted on the booking site. We suggest you avoid!

Dreadful place - like a slum area hostel. Run down, not seen a paint brush nor diy repair in years. Worst ever place we have stayed. Seriously could not tell you one nice thing about it. Cracked sink, no sink plug, lots of black bacterial gunge in tile corners and crevices. Extractor fan in toilet ceiling completely clogged with dust and filth. Carpet heavily stained. Paintwork everywhere marked and stained. Window handle missing. Patio door sticks badly - patio / sorry jungle of weeds to rear. Front steps littered and old mattress / furniture propped against front entrance. No table or chairs in the room. No air conditioning nor fan. TV had no remote control ( asked for one - was told that one was not supplied as she believed use of the tv in the room costs extra) Truly amazed that Booking .com would even list it as being suitable - let alone include satisfactory customer reviews like “ I cannot wait to visit again”

I have stayed in this room for seven nights for 498,- EUR. The place is run down, mould in the bathroom, toilets not flushing properly. The place is run down, pictures obviously a fake. The manager repaired the broken light in the room later but did nothing about the mould. Fridge was smelling badly. They are trying to keep the place sort of clean with "housekeeping" but since this place is so run down, it's a joke. If you are looking for a good place to stay, this isn't it.

Recently returned from a stay here and I have to say I really liked it. Was dreading it after reading some derogatory reviews on here but quite honestly these seem unfair. We paid 310 euros in total for two single rooms for four nights which included a generous continental breakfast so it was good value.Yes the place is a bit worn around the edges but the property really is a mansion with original features and well tended gardens, the staff are friendly and kind and the towels and bed linen are spotless and changed frequently. The bathrooms are clean and modern and the beds are comfortable, so I think that this place is a good deal.Basically, if you want a luxurious experience this place probably isn't for you but if you just want a base for when you're not out in the city then this place is right for you.

Stayed here for 2 nights with family. It's a beautiful old house in a residential area. It has a hostel vibe. Staff efficient and unobtrusive, triple room was nice with lovely view of the garden. Bathroom just beside which was clean with decent shower. Nice big old dining room and access to fridge, microwave, tea /coffee 24/7. Loads of books and very warm. The house is a bit shabby, and there are places where it needs new paint, or tidier workmanship. But, it was clean and perfectly functional with a decent breakfast, at a very good price for Dublin. We would happily stay again.
