With such wonderful history for the house, we were looking forward to our stay. However, the place was so filthy we considered leaving. It obviously had not been dusted or vacuumed for some time. The carpets were dirty, so we wore slippers. There was black mold in the bathroom in the shower and on the windows. Every place we touched... More

This house was nice on the outside and the antique furniture was interesting. We stayed three nights. The bathroom had mold growing on the shower door and on the grout behind the toilet. There was mold on the windows in the bedroom. There were cobwebs and spiderwebs on the front of the dresser and hanging from the ceiling light. The... More

On the day my husband and I arrived at Hall Green it had just rained and a brilliant rainbow materialized, seeming to land in the front yard. Indeed, Hall Green is not only a historical treasure to its community (at 400 years old), it's a gem to those who choose to stay there. Jean and Mervyn are wonderful hosts and... More

Jean and Mervyn welcomed us with scones and tea which was wonderful. They were very helpful with information about the area. The food was wonderful, and how often do you get to stay in a 400 year old house.

How often does one get to stay in a 400 year old house? Jean welcomed us with tea and scones and we felt welcome right away. I was on crutches from hurting myself on the first day of our trip but Jean and Mervyn allowed me to use the downstairs loo after breakfast so I wouldn't have to made the... More

My sisters and I enjoyed a wonderful afternoon and evening at The Hall Green in July 2011. Jean and Mervyn were friendly and informative about the area. We did not know what to expect from such an old, historically rich home, but were pleasantly surprised at the size and charm of the bedrooms. Jean welcomed us with tea and biscuits... More

We stayed at The Hall Green for 2 nights at the end of a fantastic 10 day trip across Northern and Southern Ireland and can highly recommend it as a wonderful place to enjoy a taste of 'the real Ireland'. Jean and Mervyn were incredibly warm and welcoming hosts and we enjoyed the evenings we spent talking with them in... More

My wife and I stayed there in May 2009 on our honeymoon. In fact it was the first Guest House we had listed on our itinerary. When we arrived there we were taken aback by the beauty of the house and the surroundings. Jean (McKean) the owner presented us with a wedding gift. Boy, were we surprised. Her husband (Meryvn)... Walking through the doors of this historical house was like stepping back in time. Memories of being on my grandparents farm in Kansas came back to me, and I felt the warmth of home while we stayed at this magnificent and historical estate. The McKeans have put their hearts into their home as did the families for centuries before them,... More
