We were so pleased to see this place as we'd not packed lunch and Calanais Visitor Centre seemed too far as we left the Arnol Blackhouse. Not an auspicious beginning, no one appeared when we went in, and the woman who'd been hanging out washing was cross when she came back in and discovered this. My instinct was to ask... More

We booked our table at the Inn Between at the last minute after a trip out on Seatrek. Christina was helpful even though we had to make a few mobile calls due to a dodgy signal, and booked in our party of nine (adults and kids) with no problem. The menu was not vast, but I always find that reassuring... More

I have to say we didn't actually eat here. The menu looked fairly limited, I think it was a choice of 3 starters and about 5 mains. I saw steak but it was with a mustard type mash and I can't eat mustard so asked for it without. I was told the dishes could not be changed and I couldn't... More

There aren't many places to eat, especially after 5pm, on the west side of Lewis, and we didn't fancy the Doune Braes Hotel, having had indifferent food there previously. Asking at the Hebridean Soap Company, they recommended The Inn Between at Shawbost, just a few miles up the road from where we were (Carloway). What a Find! Doesn't look anything... More

We stopped for a light dinner and were warmly welcomed by Christina , she took the time to chat to us about the local area and history. I would certainly return again.

My dad and i got to the inn between after wandering around Lewis all day and we were warmly welcomed. Had a good diner, a good night at the bar and even got to play pool and meet some locals. This inn is a good way to expirience Isle of Lewis. The whole staff is a colourfull bunch of nice... More

While I say "hidden gem" the 5 foot lettering on the side of the building should make the location fairly apparent. It is however, off the beaten track on the West Side. We didn't stay at The Inn Between, though we did make use of the restaurant which not only provided us with some great food, but was good value... More

I have just read the review by the business travellers on this site and cannot believe the nerve of these people. I was staying at the inn between at the same time as them and they were to put it mildley a pain in the unmentionables. I am one of the poor guest that was kept up all night by... More

What a disaster. Ive never met a more self centered host, who once she realised we were going to dine else where every evening, she made our stay hell. With constant complaining and under the breath comments, Im DELIGHTED we fount other accomodation. AVOID,AVOID,AVOID!

On a tour of the West Coast of the Isle of Lewis, feeling chilly and windswept on an August day I came across The Inn Between which was welcoming, warm, friendly, cheerful and excellent value for money. Over a superb meal served by Anne the owner and her husband Wayne, my friend and I were able to sit and look... More
