Just back from spending three nights in the Ballygrant Inn. Very comfortable and friendly hotel, with great food. David and Ewan were very welcoming, and knowledgeable about local walks (for me) and local whisky (for my husband). I would recommend the Ballygrant Inn to anyone visiting Islay. More

Came here for a drink on a rainy day and got rudely sent out of the main door which was open as they were laying a new carpet. Would not have gone to the bar but for the fact my 6 year old needed the bathroom . Didnt go back as were so put off by being barked at for... More

We stayed 3 nights over Easter. Excellent food, clean comfortable room and cozy bar. Excellent location close to Finlaggan and ideal for exploring whole island and distilleries.Very handy for popping over to Jura for the day. Wildlife wonderful with many birds and deer visiting the garden. David and the staff were most friendly and helpful. More

I stayed three nights in early October 2011, having secured a last-moment booking. The accommodation is obviously being gradually upgraded, but the room was cosy and the bed comfortable. What was spectacular was the food, and the way David (the very friendly owner) explained where he obtained the ingredients and how he prepared them. He is obviously proud of Islay... More

Perfectly delightful, cozy rooms, idyllic setting, Delicious breakfast. We didn't go to the restaurant although the vast variety of Whiskys was tempting. We found the staff polite until engaged and then very friendly and helpful. I wouldn't hesitate returning. More

We were very contented with the Hotel. The day began with an excellent breakfast. David the owner of the Ballygrant Inn gave us very good tips for places of interest and told us very interesting and funny stories. He has a great sense of humor. The bar is very comfortable and offers a big variety of Malts. David is also... More

Room had "ensuite" sink and shower in one corner but both the shower and the bathroom down the hall had mold (probably why the whole building smelled musty and was filled with air fresheners). Breakfast was decent and location was not bad (with car). However, bar/restaurant had no atmosphere and staff were disinterested (when they were around). But the main... More

We had a wonderful time at the Ballygrant Inn. The service was excellent with incredibly friendly and welcoming staff. The rooms were comfortable and the food was great - in particular the lentil curry and Irish stew. The Inn is located with wonderful views of the Paps of Jura, and there are some nice walks to do in the area.... More

Great food and wonderful hospitality from the owner. Lovely, clean rooms and all the essentials. Great views across to the Paps of Jura. Would love to come back and stay for longer. We spent our last night on Islay here and wish we had known about it at the start of the trip as we definitely would have extended our... More

When we walked in to the Ballygrant Inn last September, we were looking for a traditional inn where we could hold a wedding party for around 15 guests. We had decided to get married at Finlaggan loch about 2 miles from the inn, so it made good sense to have our reception at the inn. Good sense does not even... More
