Only stayed for one night whilst visiting a friend who is ill. The building itself is an old Victorian building that has been well maintained and it retains many of its original features. The house is just off the centre of Ayr and within reasonable walking distance of the Railway Station, it sits in a nice tree lined road. The... More

Canter Holm B&B was the first guest house that I came across when looking for accommodation in Ayr. And what a find! I have stayed there on many occasions since. Warm welcome, comfortable rooms and lovely atmosphere. Within walking distance of the train station, town centre and seaside, that proved to be added bonus. I have found the proprietors always... I stayed here for 2 nights and had no complaints. It was very homely from the moment i arrived, which was a great relief as i had never been to scotland before, let alone ayr and had just spent the previous 6 hours on a train. The room was very clean and well presented, and the owners were very hospitable... More

We stayed in here when we had a power cut to our home and were greeted by arrogant staff (owner we think) who gave us a grubby room room with a bed that the sheet kept pinging off off! When i looked at the mattress it looked like someone had died on it! We asked for another room and were... More

1. I checked my booking diary, we had no family checked in Dec.2010. 2. We have no rooms in our house like the rooms described by this person. The public can check our photos displayed with Tripadviser. 3. Normally guests stayed somewhere, good or bad, they would write within a month or so, why this one was written one year... More

I used the guest house while attending a wedding in Ayr. I work in a 4 *hotel in Winchester and the cleanliness of the room is at high standard. I'm not one for breakfast but on the one occasion that I did have breakfast I found it very nice, though I didn't have the cooked breakfast. It's under 5mins walk... More

We discovered Canter Holm on a dog-friendly website and were relieved to have found somewhere so nice to be able to stay with our two dogs. The room was downstairs, and had French Doors leading straight to the garden, which was so convenient for the dogs. May and Jim were both very friendly and laid back. The house had a... More

This B&B close to Ayr centre is good value for money. The price is what you would expect from a B&B. However - what you get for your money is more than you normally would expect. The rooms are good size, clean and en - suite and located in a grand nicely renovated Victorian house. This is a friendly and... More

I arrived in Ayr not knowing anyone, and I could not have picked a better place to start. Canter Holm guest house is a warm, welcoming and friendly environment. The hosts (Meiqin and Jim) are very accomodating and genuine. The rooms are very clean, neat and tidy with daily servicing and fresh towels. The house has ample off street parking... More

Imagine arriving in Ayr not knowing what was what and you ended up in the best Guest House, that's Canter Holm. I always like to stay somewhere better than I live, and Canter Holm is perfect in all aspects. My home was unavailable for a few days whilst work was being done, I know the area well but asked around... More

Just returned from a long weekend break with our two beautiful grandsons. On approaching the guest house it looked to be a lovely old house, that is where the experience ends!We were greeted at the door and told to remove our shoes, that she did not permit shoes in the house.we were then shown to our family room, to be honest our... It is quite disappointing that the elderly couple failed to listen to our room description when booking. Otherwise they would understand that the family room was set on our first floor; with the luxury bathroom, close by on the middle landing. ( as per the website ). When the group arrived, clearly with questionable shoe / trainer cleanliness, it was... More
