We stayed one night and had dinner this summer.Nothing was too much trouble for the hosts and I would like to say the food was some of the best I have ever eaten. The children were made to feel welcome and slight adjustments to the menu posed no problem at all .They have a "house" seal that you can see in... Stunning location, lovely building with lots of charm and character. We arrived on a beautiful summer afternoon in July and relaxed with a bottle of Chablis on the lawn watching the otters!, what more could you ask for?? Pierre is a superb chef and if you stay here dinner in is a must, follow this by a relaxing evening in... More

Pierre who owns & runs this place is just FAB. He is a GREAT chef a lovely & interesting person. He runs all of 14 rooms with just 1 additional help. So this means all that he does has his personal touch in it. Lovely house on a FAB island at an even better location, a must stay if one... More

We stayed two nights at the Burrastow house while on a return trip to the Shetlands several weeks ago, and while it was a bit more in cost than what we usually spend on accommodations, we enjoyed our stay and wished we had the money to splurge and spend several more nights. The original Burrastow House is quite old, but... More

We stayed in the Laird's Room at Burrastow House for five nights on our honeymoon. It was a romantic location (the room looked out on the loch on two sides so you could watch the terns fishing and the odd seal go by) . The room was comfortable. The food was really excellent and as other reviewers have said you... More

Check out the different rooms on the Burrastow House website: we chose Foula Loft, recently furbished, spacious, clean and light, with a well designed bathroom. Only the sounds of the birds and the (very!) early dawn will wake you in this peaceful spot. Pierre's cooking is, as others have said, excellent - and it's rather relaxing not to have to... More

My wife and I stayed at Burrastow House for the nights of 16th. & 17th. May 2011. There is not much to add to the favourable postings already made. The quiet and peacful locatioin could not be bettered. The house is in the old but traditional lairds-house style. The owner, Pierre, and his staff are charming and helpful - plus... More

This place is not cheap and you have to be careful not to get one of the little box rooms. Sound insulation between rooms is not perfect either. But who cares? The location is wonderful near to little cove beaches, looking out over a voe and just around the corner from the open sea. We saw what we think were... More

We spent 4 nights at Burrastow House, and stayed for dinner on three of those nights. Our 'room', the Vaila Room, was really a suite - two bedrooms and a bathroom, with lovely views from every window. For one of us it was a second visit, but it would be impossible to tire of the beauty and peace of the... More
