My daughters wedding in Sept was just brilliant. We had exclusive use of the hotel for the weekend. The food was fantastic. The staff were very attentive. The rooms were very spacious some more than others. So close to the city yet far enough away to feel you were on a weekend break out in the country. The grounds are... More

Went to the same travel event as one of the previous comments. The corridors were dirty, walls scuffed. The room had sticky surfaces which hadnt been cleaned, tv didnt work, dead flies on bathroom floor and beside windows of room. Beds were uncomfortable and hard. Room had two skylights - but no blinds so after a late night had a... More

I attended a Business Event last week at the Melville Castle Hotel, just outside Edinburgh. The Hotel and grounds from the outside is wonderful and very majestic. The staff were helpful and friendly. Unfortunately the rooms were a disaster. No heating - yes heating was required in June. The TV had not been upgraded to digital, and the phone in... More

Every Brides dream - a Romantic old Scottish Baronial Castle set within stunning well cared for grounds (with lots of wildlife). From booking to completion Melvilles dynamic duo Phyllis & Arlene went well beyond the call of duty in providing a fairytale wedding that my daughter, her prince, the Bride & Grooms parents & all our guests will never forget!... Do not want to go into all the details would take to long, but just want to say, my daughters wedding was held here, we had a great day, but the run up to the wedding was a nightmare (heating only arrived in the pavilion 5 minutes before we were due to sit down for our meal). Its such a... More

When I opened my cousin's wedding invitation offering to stay in this hotel over the weekend of the wedding we pondered about the cost but decided to treat ourselves so went ahead and booked a room from the Friday to the Sunday. They prided themselves as an Exclusive Use hotel even mentioning over dinner on Friday but I cant say... More

A fantastic venue for a special occassion of all types. A very efficicient service from Arlene prior to arrival and then by Phyllis as well as other members of the staff, all friendly and helpful. The food was excellent both in presentation and taste. The bedroom with four poster bed was special as was the venue in general. A great... More

I got married at Melville Castle in May 2009 and it was perfect! The venue was stunning. The food was out of this world. The staff were really helpful and very friendly. We all stayed there the night before the wedding and the wedding night as well. Staff ordered us taxis as we wanted to to go to Dalkeith for... More
