great little gem in st.andrews. Helpful friendly staff. Clean toilets and bathrooms. All mod cons, even has cafetiere! Central and convenient.would have preferred single sexed dorms as had teenagers. Will be back :)

The good: very nice hostel with good character, the best value in St. Andrews, nice staff, comfortable rooms (stayed in the 5 bed) with no bunks, very active and lively common area. I am the parent of an American St Andrews Student so I have stayed here more than once. While it is more of a youth type hostel it has been very comfortable and great for me when visiting alone. Having stayed in loads of hostels around the country this is definitely one of the grottiest by a long way. The shower on the same floor as the dorm I was in was cold, sinks, showers, carpets all dirty. In the morning we couldn't use the living room to eat as it was full of people sleeping on mattresses. It turned out it was fully booked when we arrived but they were kind enough to lay down two extra mattresses for us to sleep on the floor, we were happy to have a place to sleep!

We paid £11 per head for a Friday night stay here. Basic but good value hostel, plenty of toilets, big lounge, and big kitchen. Located in centre of St Andrews. Friendly staff. Only slightly bad points were a creaking door to dorm, and creaky bunks. Not the best when you're sleeping. Maybe something for the hostel to address. Overall 4/5

This hostel is 1 minute away from everything - very central! Staff were very friendly and patient. Rooms are a bit shabby (at least the one we were in) but showers are clean. Good value for money.
