What a delightful guest house in the best location in Edinburgh. The residence is truly a luxury and the host Patricia is the grandest person you will ever encounter in all of Scotland. We had the good fortune of staying three nights at Trish's residence and will stay with her again on all of our visits to Scotland. I can hardly... More

Why stay in a 5 star hotel and just be a 'room number' when you can stay at The Residence Bed and Breakfast and be a 'ROOM NAME' ? Here you will receive a 6 star welcome, relax in a 6 star bedroom and enjoy a 6 star breakfast courtesy of Trish and Terry McGinness. We have been using The... More

My wife and I stayed at The Residence over the Easter long weekend 2009. Not only was the weather perfect but so were our hosts, our accommodation and our breakfast! I would rate it as some of the nicest accommodation I have ever had the pleasure of staying in. The property itself is absolutely immaculate, classical with a touch of... More

We had a fantastic stay at the Residence during the Edinburgh festival. Couldn't recommend it more but make sure you book well in advance! Lovely decor, hostess, food and room and not far from the city centre. We will be coming back and recommending to all our friends. More

First trip to Scotland and arriving at The Residence was definitely a highlight. The rooms and baths are amazing. The hosts gracious and welcoming. The location superb. Breakfasts in the lovely Victorian breakfast room was simply wonderful. I can't wait to return. I can't imagine revisiting Edinburgh without reservations at this wonderful place. More

What a lovely place to stay in Edinburgh! Huge bedrooms and private baths all decorated beautifully. Only two couples can enjoy this lovely 18th century home so make reservations early. Trish, our hostess, was so helpful and prepared wonderful breakfasts. The location is convenient to bus lines and dining. More

We had the residence recommended by our son who works in Edinburgh a lot. We took two rooms for four people for a wedding in Edinburgh. Everything about this place is top notch as you would find in 5 stars hotel. The house is decorated beatifully from top to bottom. The manager Patricia is a smashing lass. The breakfasts were... We toured around London in October and then Scotland for the months on November and December and booked in at The Residence for 5 days after it was recommended to me. From the moment we booked Trisha was very helpful with all of our travel plans and questions through email and telephone - including a recommendation not to use a... More

This place is a sanctuary. The proprietors are so friendly and the traditional Scottish breakfast in the drawing room is a fantastic start to the day. Accommodation was spacious and beautifully decorated, inspired by Charles Rennie MacIntosh. We would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone wanting a retreat in Edinburgh! We'll definitely go back and will send all of our... More

We stayed in the Pentand room. It was very spacious and beautifully decorated. Both the full Scottish breakfast and the continental were very good and quite hearty. The best part was the hospitality of the hosts--Trish and Terry. They made sure we were comfortable and could find the things we wished to see in Edinburgh. They went out of their... More
