This was our second stay and we have to thank Guest Relations Manager Chris for making sure that the room was prepared as far as possible for our needs as one of us is a wheelchair user. It's so nice to find a hotel who try to act on feedback and who have already addressed some of the quick fixes... More

Spent 2 nights here. Great location, staff was very friendly. Rooms are small for US standards but very nice. You can tell that they paid attention to details. Wifi is fast, which is a lot more to say than most other hotels on our current Eurotrip. Right next to the Edinburgh Castle, which is probably the #1 tourist attraction in... More

I stayed here running a client forum, including dinner for two days during June. If you get the right room you get an amazing view of Edinburgh Castle, if youj dont you get no view at all (you view the inside quadrangle). The rooms are maninly small, but very well appointed, the staff are exceptional in their dedication to service,... More

We recently stayed at the Caledonian Hotel in Edinburgh and, in general, it was a very good stay. The hotel is a modified train station right off of Princess Street, in the centre of Edinburgh and right below the castle and old city. It is an easy walk to anywhere in the city. The staff are very helpful and polite... More

Beautifully decorated hotel in both bedrooms and public areas. Staff very friendly and helpful. Only minor complaint was the buffet style hot food for breakfast. We would expect table service and food cooked to order for a 5 star hotel. We found the 'hot' buffet items just warm. This was only a slight complaint and we had an excellent and... More

My husband and I stayed here overnight as part of our wedding anniversary celebrations. The hotel is perfectly located for visiting all the city centre attractions. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Peacock Alley is the perfect venue for drinking the odd champagne cocktail. The room was large, the bed even larger and soooo comfortable. The only hitch was the... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Caledonian, A Walforf Astoria Hotel, or the “Caley” as it has become affectionately known among Edinburgh folk, was and still is the epitome of style and excellence. The large, rose-coloured Permian sandstone façade, quarried in Dumfries, dominates the skyline of the city’s west end. The hotel has not only remained a focal point for more than one hundred years, but a symbol of the very best of Scottish hospitality. The Caley’s pivotal position at the very heart of Edinburgh has always been its greatest asset. Created out of the 19th century railway boom, the five star hotel is looking to the future with confidence and pride in its ability to keep pace with the times. The hotel’s reputation is as justified now as it was when the hotel first opened its doors in 1903. ... more   less
