Large old building with fabulously quirky interior design - think old leather suitcases and large glass bowls; a wallpaper panel made of the pages of a book and another featuring old candle wall lights. This is all Jennifer's doing Rooms graceful and well appointed - bathrooms especially good with large shower and generous towels. Breakfasts are wonderful - yoghurts and... More

We managed a few days here at Easter 2013 and could not be happier. The weather was extremely cold and snowy but the warmth of the welcome and the roaring log fires certainly made us feel very at home. We had dinner on two evenings and rate Laurence very highly as a chef. Breakfasts too were wonderful and a huge... More

Stayed here recently on a Saturday night. End to end, this was a wonderful bed and breakfast experience. We were well looked after by the Glenholme's owners, Jennifer & Laurence. Our room, the Nicolson, is on the 1st floor at the top of the stairs - very well appointed with a super en suite, offering a real power shower (very... More

A lovely, relaxing stay. The house is just a joy for anyone remotely interested in interior design. Jennifer has a great eye for combining the unusual, with the scandinavian influence clearly in evidence. Great food courtesy of Lawrence; the breakfasts were a real treat. Wonderfully quiet room, with a vey comfortable four poster bed. A great place for a treat.

We spent a delightful couple of days staying in this wonderful house. Jennifer and Lawrence were the perfect hosts. The library, with its endless books, quality hi fi and roaring log fire was the perfect place to relax and unwind. The local area is well worth exploring too.

My husband and I recently spent a lovely few days in the charming town of Kirkcudbright in Dumfrieshire, Scotland. We stayed at this delightful country home, spoiled by Lawrence and Jennifer. We stayed in the Curzon Room with views across the lawn and fields to the bay. Even with the lashing rain, we were cozy under the luxurious duvets. And,... More

Glenholme was just what we needed. A quiet, comfortable and beautifully-presented bedroom with a four-poster bed. No traffic, no television, just a room full of books, a huge log fire and wonderful, wonderful home-cooked food. Jennifer and Lawrence could not have been more helpful and friendly. We visited in autumn when the light over the garden and the fields was... More

I'd read about this place in various period living style magazines and thought it might be too good to be true. It isn't. The place is an absolute gem, and as it only has a few rooms I'm reluctant to gush too much in case I can't get in next time. I stayed in The Nicholson room, calming and tranquil... More

Glenholme Bed and Breakfast is a hidden gem. On this website superlatives are too often handed out, the simple class and elegance exhibited prove that in this case it is fully deserved. Whether in the library with an open fire and a good book, or whilst relaxing in the garden in the sunshine, Glenholme proves to be a truly relaxing... More

I found The Rookery on the web and worried a little that it might have been oversold. I wasn't disappointed. The place is absolutely beautiful. I was in need of a real rest and this has been a complete tonic. The kitchen is well equipped and the bathrooms clean and shining. The living room sofas are soft and cosy and... More
