Just back from a stay at this hotel. We enjoyed our time there, the room was large and comfortable and we had paid extra for a sea view which was brilliant. Overlooking the harbour and able to watch all the activity. We were not too impressed by the food in the restaurant although the starters were fine the main course... More

We stayed at the Caledonian for two nights at the end of February 2013 as part of a Groupon deal and were pleased with the accommodation. We had a room facing the bay that was spacious and clean and were provided with teas and coffee in the room. The bathroom was nice and had a lovely footed bathtub as well... More

This hotel looks grand from the outside but as soon as you walk in the door (literally) you realize that the bloom is off the rose. The front doors of the hotel loudly squeek over the tile floor every time the doors open. The whole operation is reminiscent of a bad rendition of Fauwlty Towers. My room smelt musty, the... More

This may be the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. We got into Oban late after a full day of driving and thought it might be nice to stay on the water. We were fleeced at £120 per night. We should have said "no, thanks" and looked for something else. But we didn't. And what we got for our money... More

The only good thing about our room (222) was the view over the harbour which was fantastic. Room was very dusty, the carpet was stained and the shower was a joke, trying to get wet was hard work! Dinner and service on the first night was good, but from there it went downhill, breakfast was very poor, my husband says... More

This potentially gracious old hotel is in great need of a make-over. It has been poorly maintained. A lift that works occasionally at best, loose light fittings and plastering that needs a lot of attention. Our room was large with a wonderful view of the harbour and the reception staff were very helpful and friendly. However the dining room staff... More

Used the cafe for a late lunch. It was very quiet inside as the sun was shining and people were sitting in an outside area. Staff were very friendly and helpful, bar,an went and got our access codes from reception for the free wifi. Ordered the main course of Scottish mussels. Very good sized plate and very tasty. Wife ordered... More

Stayed 2 nights here in May. Hotel is in a good location but has seen better days, a long time ago. Staff very average, Bad food. We had evening meals in the price but as the main clients seemed to be over 70 on coach tours the catering was aimed at them. A few comical spelling mistakes on the menu... More

We visited the restaurant with friends and should of realised that the experience that we were about to have would be bad when we had to queue for ages to place a drink order and when they finally arrived at our dirty table , the soft drinks were flat! looking forward to a lovely lunch we were served over 40... This gentleman Stewart Walker, General Manager seems to reply to a lot of negative feed back but what is being done about it? My husband and I were here for a special anniversary treat and we were extremely disappointed with the standard of food. We were on an Itison deal but we still expected to be able to enjoy our...
