The staff were very helpful and courteous which helped to compensate for the state of the room. Ask for a room with a view of the loch as ours was better there. We were moved at our request from our original room which was tiny and when you stretched on tiptoes you could see the view....the bins!!

I'm not fussy about the hotel I sleep in provided I get one thing: a decent night sleep! - unfortunately that was a let down here.. Inveraray is a tiny town and we had booked the argyll to stay for 3 nights to hike during the day. When we arrived the view was breathtaking, the hotel was easy to find... More

Welcome was very warm and efficient. Our room was very tired and a bit cramped. Public areas needed a good vac and scrub. The conservatory could be a really attractive feature with some investment. Food in restaurant was quite good, fabulous mussel starter. Left something in our room and was promised an update, but had to ring back 3 times... More

Stayed here for three nights whilst visiting family. Initially had some concerns after reading some of the trip advisor reviews however I was pleasantly surprised. Firstly the staff were on hand to swiftly check us in and kindly offered to upgrade our room for free to a room with a view. The food in the hotel was excellent and well... More

Staye here of one night with my family. The hotel staff where very friendly, helpful and polite. The, although a bit dated, offered everything we needed and a stunning view of Loch Fynne. It had a friendly lounge bar area and dining room. The breakfast in the morning was great with plenty of everything and quick service. The hotel also... More

Yes the hotel is a little dated, but the rooms we had overlooked the loch, were very reasonably priced and the food in the bar was excellent - better than the George. The staff could not do enough and were lovely. We will go back, but based on other reviews will specify a Loch view room. Inverary itself - excellent

Spent 2 nights at the Argyll in mid April on a DB&B deal that included free entry to Inveraray Castle. We will definitely be back. Great Staff, great food and comfortable room with stunning view. But let's have a reality check for some of the previous submissions. This hotel is a listed building in what is probably a conservation area... More
