Cooked breakfast: Vegetarian: 1/2 tomato, potato scone, egg. Glutenfree: 1 egg and 1 rasher of bacon. Hair on toast. Smelly bedroom.Tried to charge for items not requested. Grumpy manageress. Metal filings in kettle. Freezing bedroom with a window that did not close properly, even after the management had "fixed" it. Ran out of chicken at wedding meal. Special diet requested... More

location wins hands down, couldn't be bettered. nice staff. Wonderful home made soup - delicious, but pasta dish disappointing. Consistency on previous visits an issue - sometimes good food, sometimes disappointing. So I've rated value for food average - for what may or may not be a good meal. Shame. More

we stayed there for two nights before last christmas while delivering presents to our grandchildren in campbeltown. the scenery was out of this world as the sea was actually frozen over. we had a room with a sea view which was lovely. It was spotlessly clean and there was a memory foam mattress on the bed, it was soooo comfortable.... More

We've just had a fantastic few days holiday on the Kintyre Peninsula. The Argyll hotel was the pefect base. It's right on the beach, with a fantastic patio to sit and have a glass of wine overlooking the ocean as the sun goes down.We saw dolphins, seals and a variety of seabirds- great for nature. The staff were extremely friendly... More

Stayed here on a business trip as this was one of the only hotels in the area which had vacancies. As mentioned already, the location is absolutely stunning and the view from the dining room at dinner, as the sun set, was spectacular. However, I have to say that the meal was very disappointing. My starter of mushrooms in a... More

I stayed at this hotel for a work trip. From the outside the hotel looked quaint and welcoming, set in a beautiful location. However unfortunately that is where the good points end. My room was dirty (carpet not hoovered, hairs in shower), it stank of old smoke and the bed was very very uncomfortable appearing to be very old and... More

Just back from a stay at the Argyll Hotel. The hotel is a little tired and could do with some refurbishment. That said the room was comfortable, despite rather wonky beds. The food on the restaurant menu was quite uninspired. I feel the owners are missing a trick here as a more imaginative menu which makes much more use of... More

We did not stay at this hotel but went for a meal. The meal was ok but overpriced for the quality. However the lady who served us who appeared to be the manager or owner was not pleasant or friendly and was the same to other guests. The waitresses were all lovely but the same woman was rude to them.... More

Stayed in one of the hotel’s static caravans for a week in July. Located about 10 feet from the beach and a 30 second walk from the hotel, they are beautifully clean and really well equipped. The decking outside is perfect for watching spectacular sunsets over Islay and Jura. The hotel is great – friendly and welcoming staff and well-priced,... More
