My partner and I stayed in a double room at the Belfast International Youth Hostel for two nights which happened to fall on the Saturday and Sunday night of a bank holiday Monday. Our experience was mixed - some aspects were great but others really need improvement, as follows: Pros: - good location, not far from the city centre (and... More

Our first impression of this hostel was the guy on reception, Grant from New Zealand. No smiles, no welcome, in fact he made us feel awkward and unwelcome, as though we were an inconvenience. Not a nice guy at all and if I had my way, he would have been sacked and on the street. The next impression was the... More

Very basic rooms but this is reflected in the price. Our rooms were clean as was the bedding. Couldn't get to sleep till early hours of the morning on Saturday due to base beat from nearby night club to the back of the hostel. To the front sleep disturbed by base beat coming from pub directly across the road and... More

Quite possibly the filthiest place I have stayed in, as a member of YHA I was disgusted at the state of this place. We were travelling as a group, but we had a private room, very small, basic. Hand basin in the room had not been cleaned. There were marks on the walls, and the duvet covers were soiled, the... More

The matress was stained and though security was good a band of screaming Americans running down the corridor at 3 am was extremely unpleasant, one of our rooms was beside the lift so while it looked onto the back it was v. Noisy. The cafe was excellent. As a Group from Spain we stayed here when the hostel was first... More

The Belfast International Youth Hostel is a good choice if you're in Belfast and want an inexpensive place to stay. The accommodations were very clean and well-kept if a bit on the "institutional" side. The building is a newer building and security is excellent. The location is pretty good - a short 10 minute walk to central Belfast and there... More

We booked a private double room. It overlooked the front street and was very noisy at night. The room was bare and the bed was unusually high - it felt like a hospital bed. Good laundry, well equipped kitchen and attractive dining space, close to Botanic Avenue where there were plenty of restaurants and cafes although the immediate surroundings were... More

The International Youth Hostel in Belfast Northern Ireland is in a good location. We have summarized many of our thoughts in to Pros & Cons below. When you have to pay for a pad of butter for your toast and £ 2.00 for 20 minutes of WiFi, it starts to feel like you are being nickeled and dimed to death.... More

Thank you for your comments. Our basic bed price is low - from £9 a night if you book online - and we make it very clear on booking sites what is included. Our rates do not include breakfast - but the cafe is open eery morning with a wide range of options. 15 minutes daily free internet is only... More
