I stayed for two nights over Easter 2013 and enjoyed my time there. It's a smallish stone house with plenty of character. It is on the main road, but I didnt see or hear much traffic whilst there. The village is nicely situated, with great views of the mountains nearby and within easy distance of Beddgelert (my favourite village in... More

Small is beautiful and this little gem tucked away in Rhydd Ddu is worth a visit.Very easy to drive past but make the effort to park and you will be rewarded with a visit to remenber. We stopped over in a double en suite which was warm with Sky TV and tea/coffee provided.Nothing was too much effort for Emma, the room... My wife and I have been coming here for a few years. I can't praise the B&B highly enough. The proprietors are incredibly welcoming and friendly, the rooms are comfortable (not that you'll spend much time there) and the location is ideal for the Snowdon massif or the Nantlle ridge, which is just behind the main street in Rhyd Ddu.... Stayed here recently on a visit to family in the area. A lovely guest house with 3 rooms, one of which has en suite facilities. They serve an excellent breakfast and cater for gluten free people as well! Dutch pancakes for breakfast, amongst other things! Emma and Menno are very welcoming and extremely helpful and would definitely stay here again.... More

Recently visited (again) by myself and family inc two lads (13 and 11). Good food served by lovely couple who own the place. Menu inc best chilli in Wales! The Dutch influence is within some of the dishes in Dutch-style pancakes which are slightly more savoury than crepes but delicious with various fillings. Quite small so only 4 or 5... More

No better place to start the ascent of Snowdon (and recover after conquering it). Menno and Emma sure know how to make you feel at home! Nice rooms, perfect breakfast and helpful owners. And ... muddy boots welcome:-) Highly recommended! PS 50 meters from this B&B you can find the Cwellyn Arms. Perfect food near the fireplace!

We stayed here a couple of years ago but I keep meaning to leave a review and here it is! We stayed here for a couple of nights on a whim after we decided to climb Snowdon using the Rhydd Ddu path. It was a lovely guest house, very close to the start of the path up the hill. Our... More

We stayed a night en-(walking)route from Holywell - Bardsey Island (North Wales Pilgrims Way) - a slight detour from the official route, but definitely well worth it! Simply the best accommodation & food & welcome in perfect location - Thank you Emma & Menno and look forward to seeing you again soon! Phil & Patrice

We regularly stop at Ty Mawr. It's in a lovely setting, nestled in this tiny village right in the foothills of Snowdon. When we are walking or cycling we like to plan a route that will enable us to call in. The cafe is so unusual and so cosy. It's a delight. Coming off the mountains in the winter, it's... More

A review of the tea rooms - the atmosphere and the "feel" of the tea rooms is wonderful. To be honest you will struggle to find a friendlier cafe/tearoom in Snowdonia. If you have climbed Snowdon then treat yourself - the pub up the road is nice as well but this place is far better. Recommended food? The Dutch pancakes... More
