Every few years, the Llangollen Steam railway holds a big gala that attracts steam enthusiasts, and others, from far & wide. A suggestion that my wife, her sister, Joy & their husbands might go to celebrate my Bro-in-Law - Douglas' - imminent birthday ( are you still with me?) was made, & booking was tried. Most local hotels seemed full,... More

Having needed accomodation for one night near Llangollen, I found this lovely place not too far away that had just what I needed. I opted for just the room without breakfast and this was no hassle at an agreed price. The room was en-suite with a television, wi-fi and tea/coffee making facilities. I enquired about the heating in the room... More

My wife and I stopped in for a meal on a Saturday evening, having read about the selection of steak available. We'd booked a table in the restaurant and arrived to be given a choice of tables - it was much later in the evening that we realised that we were the only people in the restaurant area. Sadly it... After struggling to find the bar due to diversions & having to ring a bell for service was dissappointed to find only 2 of their 3 ales available. Bar area dingy & unenviting, menu very basic & overpriced decided to leave. Place unprofessional & run down. Do not even think of trying it.

The hotel is in a beautiful landscape and has lots of potential but the food was horrible when we visited last week. We ordered 2 vegetarian meals one was the broccoli & stilton pasta bake-soggy overcooked pasta in a cheese sauce-no sign of stilton or of it having been baked in the oven. The other meal was a 'special' vegetable... More

What an absolute joke, the Sunday carvery was just disgusting , burnt , bland , revolting slop . We went for a nice Sunday meal as a family expecting a nice meal , what we had was just shocking , it took what felt like an eternity for the person to cut the meat , then when we got to... More

The best carvery I've ever had, and I've had a few! Absolutely delicious, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Can't wait for Sunday again!

We stayed here on a short break between Xmas and New Year on a Late Rooms deal. So at £35 for two including breakfast it’s hard to say bad things. As previous reports it is abit dated, the room only had a mixer tap shower which wouldn’t switch to shower, though in fairness we didn’t say, the owners could be... More

My sister and I booked on late rooms, we arrived to a lovely warm open fire and a friendly welcome. Our rooms were excellent and had everything we could have wished for. My sister had a four poster bed which delighted her, both rooms were spacious and had excellent en-suite facilities. The hotel was warm, plenty of hot water, food... More
