Stayed here for a 'Gourmet' short break at end January 2012. Hotel was very good and renovations seem to be on-going. Very upmarket feel to the improved areas and must mention the excellent attitude and service the staff provide. Friendly, professional and not intrusive. The evening meals were excellent (breakfast was rather ordinary and served in the bar). We didn't... More

Wonderful afternoon tea at the Angel, only one little gripe, it should always be clotted cream with scones and jam! More

We went with family and friends and enjoyed the afternoon tea that is serviced at The Angle. We had good service and the tea was very nice, plenty to eat and some lovely teas. Great after a hike. Great place to meet up. Good value for money. More

Fantastic atmosphere, wonderful food, beautiful surroundings and tremendous Value for Money! We've had many a family celebration at the Angel, including my daughter's 16th birthday. It has now become our first choice for a 'Girls Afternoon Out!'. The staff are extremely attentive and I couldn't praise the service highly enough. I look forward to many more happy times at The... A delicious invitation to High Tea with a glass of champers on a snowy nasty miserable evening. Inside was friendly and atmospheric and warm in terms of the welcome and the now warm and stylish building ( which has seen a lot of super renovation) so totally ideal way to celebrate. Savoury pastries, beautiful pretty cakes, dainty sandwiches and warm... More

We always visit the Angel, when we're in the area, for a drink or light meal. It has a lovely, friendly atmosphere and exudes warmth and friendliness. It's slightly different each time as it's being refurbished little by little, with good taste whilst retaining the character of the building. I'm already looking forward to my next visit. More

We celebrated my daughter's birthday on Jan 8th 2012 and enjoyed one of the best Sunday lunches ever. The atmosphere was just right, food absolutely delicious and service very good. We will be back soon. More

The hotel is rated highly in many guides but unless you have a bottomless purse, don't enter! The food is small portions at a high price, and the set tea is very costly, even though the cakes and sandwiches are freshly made. The main customers are local business people and the usual 'famous' personality. Not a place for a 'good-value'... More

The Angel was ok - looks great from the outside, and downstairs seems pretty nicely decorated but our room didn't quite come up to the same standard. The base of our double bed was in two parts that weren't secured together, which meant that as we lay down the bed rolled away from the headboard a little way. The bath... More
