We came here for a wedding and the hotel itself is very nice, in a good location and with good food. However, all of this was completely let down by the staff. The bar staff didn't have a clue and frequently got drink orders wrong or didn't understand what was being asked for. I have no problem with migrant workers... More

Great looking Victoria gothic hotel - but alas the hotel rooms are mostly in a tired and charmless extension at the rear that takes an age to get to through interminable corridors. The room was in a generally poor condition (broken bathroom door handle, the lining of one of the chairs torn, shabby and worn old wall unit for storage,... More

I have just returned from a 3 night stay in this hotel and like some others had such an experience I feel I have to share for potential future customers. When booking this hotel I made it very clear I needed a ground floor room close to all amenities as I would be accompanying my 79 year old grandmother who... More

Maybe due to our late arrival (9:00 p.m.) we were not offered assistance through to maze to our room with our baggage. If I had known when booking a room that there were no lifts I would of had given our selection of hotels a second thought. We were shoved in the third of the three connected buildings that make... We were a small party of 6 having a celebratory dinner. We appreciate verymuch what Darren the duty manager did for us. He organised a private room and a fanatstic menus with 3 choices of starter, main and dessert. The food was excellent, this was said by all six of us. The service was perfect and this was given even... More

My partner and I were really looking forward to staying in this hotel however I found the whole experience so disappointing I felt the need to write this review. The building itself is beautiful and location is a previously mentioned by others, is suitable although not central. The lounge/bar area is inviting and seemed cosy although we did not eat... More

Consider this facility as a historic gem and you can forget smaller mistakes easily. Hotel location is suitable, not very central though. It is about 500 metres from Tricorn house or 5 ways roundabout, where city center actually starts with Broad street. On a rainy day this can be a bit too far, but otherwise this distance is really not... More

This hotel I am informed by locals used to be the prime hotel in Birmingham, the place to stay and dine 40 years ago. Certainly it retains its iconic interior with oak panelling and antique, if somewhat jaded, furniture in the original, older part of the hotel. A warm welcome was awarded me on arrival by the receptionist which was... More

Thank you very much for your comprehensive review. I will be very pleasd to pass on your kind comments to the breakfast team. I take your point about the lift although there is never a problem with us carrying your bags to the room. This should always be offered and I will ensure that it continues to be so. I... More

I stayed for 4 nights on business There appeared to be ample parking. The hotel is in a convenient position close to central Birmingham and the ICC The reception staff were pleasant but couldn't understand that the booking had been paid in full through lastminute.com The decor is very tired, it was significantly worse than on my last visit a... Thank you for witing in regards to your recent visit. I am very sorry your stay was not an enjoyable one and only wish you had brought these issues to my attention during your 4 day stay as I am confident they could have been rectified. The cold Breakfast is puzzling as everything is made to order and it is... More
