It is probably the only option if you need to spend a night in Guildford. The few hotels are over expensive, BBs are spread out and not too cheap either. YMCA is very covenient, central, close to the station and well catered for. Something more than a regular hostel, with studio ensuite rooms, kitchens at every floor, social and events... More

I booked one night Single, shared bathroom, and 12 days Twin Ensuite. The shared toilet / bathroom are unexpected clean. Single good and nice. Nice Twin Ensuite, big bathroom, clean. Room lighting is bit dim, no desk lamp. There is no thermostat for the heater, if I need to open the window, I can't closed the curtain! Closed the curtain,... More

I have been staying at the YMCA Guildford for the past few weeks as I am on business in the area. I have been staying at least 3 nights a week at a cost of £54 a night so not cheap. This week I have been accommodated on a different floor in the hostel and I noticed there were no... More

At Guildford YMCA staff take customer care and service very seriously, and we were upset to read about this guest's experience. I was able to contact her whilst she was still staying with us, and I hope assured her that this matter will be dealt with approprately and quickly as we do not wish our guests to leave our premises... I usually stay in a hotel when I travel round Britain, and was therefore expecting a slightly lower standard. It was a lovely surprise to find that the room was clean and had the most storage space I've ever seen before! There were cupboards, drawers and shelves for everything that could possibly be needed. A generous supply of milk, tea,... More

I stayed in the Guildford YMCA many years ago (2004) and I am compelled to write a review of it now as the experience was so poor! It was pricey, the room was small, the bathroom was unclean and the staff was unhelpful. I would NOT recommend this place at all!

We're sorry to hear that you had such a bad experience eight years ago. Since then we've had 32 rooms refurbished and include an en-suite shower room. Our prices are carefully monitored to be extremely competitive in the current market. The majority of our feedback complements our staff and their helpfulness. Do come back and try us again! More

I never stayed in a hostel before so I didn't know what to expect. The place is very conveniently located close to the railway station and the centre of Guildford and reasonably priced for Guildford, although for £54 per night, it isn't cheap. The room was small with a very small en suite. I am not big but had to... More

We're glad to hear that your overall experience was pretty positive. We are puzzled about breakfast though, as it is inculded in your room rate anyway. A Full English breakfast costs only £4.75 to a non-resident. Our overnight Duty Officer is on hand - do call them if noise within the building is an issue. Also, we've recently purchased new, higher... More

Lots of chavy noisy drunken teens staying at the place, effin and blindin at midnight, ruined the atmosphere somewhat, but were soon quietened down. The room was good value for money with a VERY small ensuite, tv and desk for £54. But the bed looked like it had been slept in previously, there were a few hairs on the bottom... More

Thank you for your positive comments. We are a hostel for upto 40 young people who would otherwise be homeless, as well as local students, so teenagers do come with the territory. But certainly bad behaviour is unacceptable and our Duty Officers will deal with it promptly. We're very keen to meet all of our customers needs and want everyone... More

Very convenient to station so great for rail users. New building in town centre beside river so easy connection for riverside walks. So for me the location pushes it up to a 4/5 rating. The single room I had was similar to good quality student halls of residence but with an en suite pod and Freeview TV so I expect... More

Close from Guildford train station and most of the shops and restaurants. The full breakfast which was included to the room rate was good - lots of different kind of bread, yoghurt and drinks. The room was clean, comfortable and spacey enough. The shared shower/toilet was OK - I didn't have to wait for my turn even for once during... More

Stayed here for one night to visit my son. Really warm warm welcome, room was basic but exactly what I'd hoped - clean and warm. Breakfast buffet was generous with a good choice of hot and cold food. I would certainly stay here again.
