We only stayed for one night (Saturday) and were very pleased with the whole package. We were greeted by extremely friendly and helpful staff and luckily our room was ready so we were able to check in early. The decor of this hotel is quite dated but I think this adds to its charm. Everything was clean and very well... More

We normally pride ourselves on our service and our food, and have had many positive reviews on trip advisor about both, therefore I am sorry that your table had not been cleaned and that you did not find the food up to standard. We have recently seen the addition of a pool table in our main bar and although this... More

Stayed one night this week. Was greeted by a very attentive helpful receptionist who allocated us a room up on the top floor. The room was a good size but the bathroom was quite small with the toilet in a corner with a sloping ceiling which made life interesting! Toilet seat was damaged, never a good sign, so easy and... Visited for the second time in a few weeks and left with the same impression. Found this to be wonderfully quaint and quirky 3 * old coaching inn/hotel, full of character and staffed by a friendly and efficient 5 * team. First stay was by the sometimes bustling High Street, and the second a quiet room across the courtyard. More

We stayed at this hotel 20th/21st April for a family wedding and were very impressed . The staff are so friendly and couldn't do enough to please . We were initially given a room that was apart from our children but this was dealt with immediately and we were up graded a to a room just near them . We... More

We have just got back from a weekend at this hotel and it was lovely. The room was clean and comfortable and ours which overlooked the courtyard was quiet. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious and the staff very pleasant and helpful.Would stay here again and recommend it to others. More

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights, and found it to be good value and friendly. The hotel is an old building surrounding a courtyard and includes a building over the road. This means that for some rooms you need to go up 3 sets of stairs, down 1 and along 5 corridors to get to the room. But... More

I'm not going to write as others do in the style of Judith Chalmers or Cliff Michelmore. I'm not that pretentious. Nor is this hotel. Yes it could do with a refurb, but the staff are some of the friendliest I've ever come across, nothing seemed to be too much trouble. We stayed in room 114, a very characterful room,... More

We have just returned afer a weekend at this lovely Hotel. This is the second time we have stayed and enjoyed our return visit. We were in room 102 a twin room overlooking the main road. We didn't find it noisy as there is a ''double'' window so it blocked any noise. The room was very spacious and extremely comfortable.... More

The Rutland Arms is situated right in the centre of Newmarket and is very reasonable so you cannot fault it on this front. Also the reception staff are very welcoming and professional. However the rooms are not up to standard. We stayed in 145 which is a long way from reception and has a bathroom that would be better placed... More

Thank you for your comments, I am glad to hear that my staff were friendly and attentive, and I can assure you that we will be addressing the issue of the curtains in the room you stayed in; all our rooms are individually decorated and as such it is always helpful to know which room a guest is talking about...
