I stayed at this hotel with my partner last weekend. I loved the lounge area as you walk in. It was very cosy and welcoming, especially as we were soaked from the rain outside. The guy who greeted us after we rang the bell at reception (the owner?) was nice enough and professional, but could have been a little friendlier.... More

First time for us and definitely not the last. Small and very welcoming, easy walking access to the centre of Bury St Edmunds and what a great breakfast- enough for the whole day. Now arranging to visit again shortly. More

An excellent hotel in a delightful town, within easy walking distance. The room was spacious and full of character and charm and the hosts went the extra mile to return a forgotten item by post. If I am anywhere near the area again I would detour to stay here. I can fully recommend it to anyone. More

We booked this hotel for a boutique weekend away break. We chose Bury as somewhere different from the normal tourist runs and not far too travel. The Abbey Hotel looked nice with a good restaurant and a good choice for a short weekend away. When we arrived reality was much better than we had expected. We were greeted by a... More

Thankyou to Arthur and your staff for accomadating my family when we had been badly let down by the Bird in Hand in Mildenhall. Very friendly and accomadating, great historic building with loads of character and the rooms have been done to a very high standard. We will be visiting again and can't wait for another a great breakfast thanks... More

This is a jewel of a hotel if you like something with alot of history and character. The hosts are very welcoming and it's location is perfect for a historic stroll into Bury St Edmunds centre. Our room was full of character with ancient beams, low ceilings and sloping floor. Throughout the hotel the decor and furnishings are charming and... More

We really liked this place! The beds were comfortable and the rooms were lovely - both the wooden-beamed in the old part of the hotel and the more modern bit at the back. The welcome could not have been warmer, and the breakfasts were excellent. The only let-down were the bathrooms which were cramped, dated and the ancient showers were... More

I stayed two nights with my elderly father who (and I never thought I would say this) has the good fortune to be quite deaf. The first night I was kept awake til gone 11 - but no hardship there, as I could read til then quite - well, if not happy, at least content to let my fellow human... More

This is a very good hotel just outside the town centre and is easily found from the eastern exit of the A14. My room was a family room and was spotlessly clean. The breakfat was excellent and the friendliness of staff noteworthy. I would definitely stay again. More

The room I had was large and comfortable and I loved the old wooden beams which gave it so much character. The bathroom was small but perfectly adequate, the bed very comfortable with all the facilities that you could want. I would be more than happy to stay there again and to reccommend it. More
