Looked great on the site..not all that meets the eye! Check in staff were superb - very welcoming and friendly. However the entire place needs an uplift.Carpets dreary and worn.Doors and walls scuffed, grubby and in serious need of renovating. The room was bland and average and i had one of the worst night's sleep in ages....the springs were sticking in my back!!!... What else would you expect in the middle of January. Once inside the hotel you can expect a warm wecolme from the staff. The hotel is well placed for a weekend in the unspoiled town Bury St Edmunds. The Suffolk Hotel lacks the investment to grade it 4 star however the accomadation is acceptable. The golf course is a little... More

This hotel had awful reviews because of decor!!! It was an emergency stopover for a couple of nights when another hotel became unavailable. This hotel was in a good location for us, and was extremely good value. We paid no more than we would have at a travelodge, and got the same standard of room-possibly bigger, with a view of... More

Firsty i must say that all the staff where very friendy and couldnt do enough for you, however the reception staff had no uniform so wasnt sure who was who when i arrived. Sadly the hotel is very dated, on walking to the room the decor is very tatty with alot of paint missy from walls, doors had a bit of... More

I booked this hotel as a little get away treat for my boyfriend and I after the Christmas madness. I booked an amazing deal of £40 B&B for the night and am glad that's all I paid. This seems to be a Golf Course with some leisure facilities that they have then decided to add rooms to. I have been... More

No real negatives here! Excellent water pressure, comfy bed, breakfast was good, lovely view of the golf course, only thing i found was £11:50 for a ceasar salad, albeit with chicken and bacon was extortion, considering there wasnt even bread and butter with it!! But the staff were friendly, maid service was good, a all round nice stay. More

My husband and I stayed here in early January for a relaxing weekend away. We initially picked the hotel as the prices at this time were very good. We had read reviews on trip advisor and arrived with an open mind. It is true that some parts of this hotel need updating but our room was adequate, the decor was... More

The only reason I choose this hotel was for the leisure facility. However the steam room was out of order, I was told by a member it had been like that for months. The swimming pool had dead flies on the surrounding floor. However the pool itself was clean and a good size. The rooms are very standard and need... More

This is a recently built accommodation block which joins onto the golf club. I imagine the purpose is to encourage the play and stay golfers who will retire with a higher level of anaesthetic than me! The meeting and greeting was lovely, and efficient. The bar staff were also very good, showing a real effort to please. The sound insulation... More

Arrived late afternoon, staff were efficient and friendly, shown to room 203 (parents had 206). Middle floor bad decision, next time ask for top floor. The sound insulation is very poor. Heard people talking and walking across the floor. The 6am shower from the room above (I assume) sounded like it was in the room with us. People could be... More
