Arrived around lunch time to warm friendly welcome. They don't do food at midday but were recommended to Ixworth where we enjoyed a lovely light meal then off to Bury St Edmunds for the afternoon. Back to the 6 bells around 4pm, showered and dressed to go to the bar and order our meal. Service throughout attentive and friendly, food... More

Stayed here with my other half in Feb '12 on a cold, wet and very windy night. Met by a friendly guy who showed us to our room and asked if we wanted dinner/breakfast. Main building is a traditional coach house, accommodation is in what I’d guess to be a converted stable block. Room was clean and had the usual... More

Having checked trip advisor just prior to departing to the Six Bells I was worried about the report that said the rooms were cold. On arrival our room was too hot, and we had to turn the radiator down, however next morning another couple who we met complained that their room was cold, so if they are not busy, and... More

Reviews of this establishment seem deeply divided but my wife and I were disappointed. We did not feel welcome on arrival. The reception area was dark and uninviting. Our room was OK but would have benefited from some TLC. One particular irritation was the shower tray which was unstable and leaked.... and there was mould on the ceiling. The bar... More

Pleasant stay in clean and tidy rooms. Food good but meat a little dry on two occassions. More

Before booking 5 nights at the Six Bells for my wife and I, I read the previous reviews and was very impressed, perhaps no one had to deal directly with the manager, the son of the owners of the Inn, his parents were on holiday for a couple of weeks. When we checked in it was like we were too... More

I have stayed at the Six Bells four times now. The pretty and quaint Inn takes my breath away each time. The original parts of the Inn date back to the 1500s, so the ceilings are low and there are charming beams throughout. The guest accommodation is nice (but a little chilly this time). All the rooms face on to... More

We stayed here for 2 nights on a half board basis. We were promised a 4 poster bed room for £110 per night. When we arrived there was no-one in the pub to welcome us, the chef came from the kitchen and showed us to our room, we asked about the 4 poster but was told it was occupied. The... More

To sum up, we wouldn't look anywhere else if staying in a 15 mile radius, it ticks every one of our boxes. Quiet, comfortable, welcoming, excellent food at good prices, pet friendly, very pleasant other guests, clean, lovely surroundings, good ale on tap and excellent value for money. There is simply nothing I could fault it on and we will... More

We only stayed one night and as we were off to a party we didn't eat there or spend much time there which was a shame as it is just lovely. In the middle of nowhere, surrounded by open fields. The room was like an annexe to the hotel with toileteries and lovely soft towels provided. The people who work... More
