Stayed at the Cathedral Lodge several times while on business. Hotel is about 10 mins walk from Centre. Ample free parking. Rooms vary, some are large and pleasant, some a bit small, but all are clean and comfortable. Breakfast is good and evening meals are available in the bar if you can't be bothered to go into town. The rooms... More

First impressions of this tired looking hotel were soon forgotten about by the very friendly welcome to this hotel. The building deserves the 3 star rating for its tired decoration but the staff deserve 5stars. The rooms are warm, clean & comfortable. Only negative is no lift (rooms over 3 floors). The hotel is ideally located to wander to the... More

We attended a birthday party in the function room on a Saturday afternoon. Everywhere was clean and tidy, great staff couldn't fault the place. Drinks wer'nt too expensive for a hotel. Thanks for a good afternoon.

I called in late yesterday evening to see if there were any rooms available, and fortunately there was a room. By the book, I had missed dinner, however they accommodated me and I enjoyed a delicious 3 course dinner. Eva, is the most tremendous hostess and nothing was too much trouble for her, and what I liked was that she... More

Not sure which hotel BED21 review stayed in but it certainly wasn't the Catherdral Lodge Hotel we stay in. Very friendly staff nothing was too much trouble for them, very clean and tidy room, large bed for a very tall husband all good. Breakfast was a varied choice of cereals including porridge which I love and a choice of a... More

We originally stayed here in 2010 as we were using at as a base for our wedding in Rugeley. From the first moment we were treated very well and all the staff were friendly. The bar seating area was looking a bit worn, but upon our stay last weekend, I noticed it has all been re-upholstered and looks much better.... More

Rooms looked ok but hotel is tired and shabby and rooms overpriced. Had a cold room all night , heating wasnt on enough, the toilet wasn't flushing properly. Response from manager after complaining was rude and arrogant. Avoid this place like the plague(IF you want value for money)Stay in the nearby travelodge or premier inn

I have tried to contact you several times regarding this matter and have left 2 messages on your phone to get in touch with me at the hotel and I would explain verbally why I refuse to give you a full refund for your stay at the hotel. You checked in at 1.30am into the hotel 3 people and never... More

Only stayed one night but was impressed by how friendly the staff where. Checking in was quick we ask for a room change and was given a upgrade for no extra charge. ...not if you're picky. The place is tired looking, inside and out. But staff are great, breakfast freshly cooked and plentiful, and rooms comfy enough. Looked like a well stocked bar too, but with the George & Dragon down the road we didn't see the need to drink here. Good value and a good location, easy walking down the hill... More
