Driving to Chesterfield, as I was the other day, I was relieved to have arrived after several hours in the car. 'Off to the hotel', thought I. Then, my SatNav took me through the town and right out the other side. Realising that I was in the middle of nowhere ( I think I saw Gandalf ), I started to... More

I'm a person who has been visiting fox house all my life, we booked in for a birthday treat. 2 adults, 2 children. £86 with continental breakfast. On booking in, the lady informed me the full english that I had booked, which was on the receipt, wasn't actually what I was getting. I wasn't offered a refund, just told they'd... More

No problem with the food here as its at the better end of Good pub grub but the delay in serving means that the only thing you are talking about after the meal is how slow it all is.Felt sorry for the waitress who was rushed off her feet but one hour and twenty minutes from sitting down to getting... The Fox House is second to non location wise, but the service and quality of food do seem to vary quite a lot. We are lucky enough to live close by and so it is a handy place to go and very picturesque in summer. On the whole it is resonable, although I would recommed booking on a Saturday night,... More

We visited the Fox House last April on one of our regular visits to the Peak District. In fact, this was our third visit to the Fox House. Myself & my partner are fans of Innkeeper's Lodges (of which the Fox House is one). The rooms here are clean and spacious (as they usually are in Innkeeper's Lodges). The service... More

Average rooms, soulless and noisy. We stayed in the Annex and were woken countless times by other residents slamming doors and shouting in hallways. Hot water very slow to come through and tiled floors very cold in bathrooms. Plenty of pillows but a spare blanket would have been welcome. Rooms clean if sparse. Breakfast also sparse continental style....for the money... More

Stayed in Room 11 this time, probably the best room in the house. It is clear that further improvements have been made since our last visit and customer care continues at the same level with every member of staff welcoming and helpful. For the prices charged this establishment provides exceptional value for money. We stayed three nights and ate every... More

Myself and my Husband have just returned from a one night stay here, whilst the pub is ok, it's not fantastic , the accommodation is rubbish. We stayed in Room 5. Check in was a bit strange but it is a pub , maybe a proper reception area would be good but it's so crammed in the bar area I... More

brilliant value for a large family room and breakfast. Got this room for 3people and it was £25, well worth it! Lovely location and friendly welcoming staff. Looking forward to going back in the summer.
