The room (deluxe single) was extremely clean and surprisingly large and comfortable. Location simply cannot be beat, and the price was, I thought, a great value, especially for Oxford. There are stairs, but staff were happy to assist with my bags on arrival & departure. I'd definitely stay here again and would recommend it.

Stayed here for the weekend with a friend. Really comfortable, spacious room, clean and well maintained. This hotel is located on a main street and there was a fair bit of noise on the Saturday night but much quieter on the Sunday. Lovely breakfast served in the downstairs café. The location is perfect for exploring Oxford and is in easy... More

This is a B and B. Finding accommodation in oxford is difficult but this can be the answer for some. You have to be fit. Steep stairs(to a high first floor) face you before getting to reception. This is not a place for the disabled or unhealthy. The room(204) was clean, quiet and tidy with a comfortable bed. The shower was... More

Me and my husband came to the cafe, it's very central and a great place to people watch. Whilst I was in the middle of a walking tour, I realised that I has left my rucksack at the cafe! The cafe thankfully kept it to one side for me. Thank you so much, really appreciated.

Looked at prices and found cheaper than on hotel web site. Rang them and they were happy to match price. Got very good advice regarding use of park and ride (PEARTREE P&R). Location was perfect as we were going to the New Theatre to a concert. Only a 2 minute walk to the theatre. The hotel is up a steep... More

Great location, within easy walking distance of absolutely everything I wanted to get to, and on a really very pretty street. My room (302) was very spacious, ditto the bathroom (bath and shower). Perfectly quiet, even when I opened the windows. The reception staff were helpful and efficient, and the breakfasts were good and arrived quickly. All the stairs mean... More

If you want to pay budget prices, you need to expect budget accommodations. The Buttery has no lift, and reception is up a flight of steep stairs. My room (206) was up yet another flight. It was small, sparsely decorated, with dirty smudges on the walls in places. The bathroom was a SMALL cubicle shower with a toilet wedged in,... More

This was the worst hotel I've stayed at in Great Britain. The visit begins with a long flight of steps that one must climb, dragging luggage with you since there is no where other than the street to "park" it while you make your way up to the registration alcove, which is located above the storefront (second floor to Americans--first... I stayed at The Buttery in a deluxe double room whilst on a conference in Oxford. The Hotel is very central and conveniently located. The rooms were comfortable and the bathrooms basic but light and roomy by English standards. Breakfasts were served in the cafe downstairs, good coffee and fantastic croissants. The only down side was the noise on the... More

We didn't really enjoy our stay at The Buttery Hotel. The thing that bothered me alot was the cleanliness of the hotel, I had to write a note for the housekeeping in order to change the towels! It is very noisy you can hear others talking in adjacent rooms. Breakfast was served very early, until 9:00 am. However, I admit... More
