Like some other reviewers, I am a little taken aback by those who have criticised the "tired" decor. If you want a boutique hotel, you have to pay boutique prices. Personally, I thought the decor was perfectly adequate and the room I stayed in was well-maintained, apart from the shower hose, which was just about usable but needed to be... More

I don't normally give feedback but our family reunion stay was a series of unfortunate events which I have to comment on. One of the couples in our party suffered water damage from above bedroom and so had to move at 10.30pm with no apology; food was substandard and veggies were served cold, 10 minutes after main meal arrived; swimming... Just stayed at the Crown and Cushion for two nights and was surprised to see the negative experiences reflected in some of the other reviews. We must have been lucky! We had one of the four poster rooms in the main building and it was huge, with a spacious seating area and separate dressing room. Yes the decoration is old-fashioned... More

This is the first time I've ever been inspired to write a tripadvisor review, but our experience here was so poor I felt the need to get it off my chest. Where to start....The hotel blurb says they have a tradition of hospitality starting in 1497. What they fail to mention is that this tradition probably stopped in 1498. We... More

We stayed here for a couple of nights over Easter. There is not much wrong and for £75 per night for a family room what can you expect?? However in a travel inn at this price point the staff smile but at the crown and cushion you don't see a smile from anyone. Our room was in the coach house.... More

We stayed in Room 1 which was spacious and beautifully prepared for our use. The en suite was also spacious and there were plenty of fluffy bath towels and toiletries. Nice 4 windowed view over the High Street - all double glazed. Room includes convenient secure private parking as well as breakfast. The bed was really comfortable and I slept... More

My wife and I stayed here for two nights in March 2012. The hotel is an old coaching inn and certainly has potential. But it needs a lot of money spending on it: it looks tired, as though it were last properly maintained about thirty years ago. On the plus side, it was clean and our bedroom was well serviced.... Booked in via Michelin site but were very disappointed to find very dated grubby looking decor, cold hotel, wobbly 4 poster, thin curtains incapable of keeping out the light ,lack of shower and front of hotel location facing the busy main road despite having booked superior room with bath & shower in quiet location. Decided to quit whilst ahead &... More
