We booked a table for yesterday evening, and arrived to be warmly welcomed by the manager and a couple of his staff. Drinks form the bar were all spot on, with the range of beer being particularly noticeable. As a group of seven, it was fun to see the different dishes chosen, and brought to our table. Our starters included... More

Dan, the welcoming and hard-working landlord and his team have created a wonderful country pub that offers so much. Our highlights were: great range of ales and wine; wonderful food served either in the lively bar or the old hall restaurant; efficient service, even on the half term, sunny weekend when we stayed; comfortable bed in very nice room; fine... Had a very pleasant meal here. We booked a table but we needn't have bothered. Service was pleasant and the food very nice. The menu was small in comparison to some other pubs we have eaten at but there is something for everyone.

Thank you for the review. Delighted to hear you enjoyed your visit. We keep our menu small, and change it often, which allows us to be fresh and efficient during busy times. For anyone reading the review, we would always recommend booking if you can, as we do often fill up, even mid-week. Dan More

My husband and I have just enjoyed two nights at this lovely inn. I found it by chance on the Internet and booked only 4 days ago. What a find! Our room was lovely - clean and comfy - and very peaceful despite being over the bar. We eat dinner here on both nights as well as breakfast and found... More

tucked away under the watchful eye of cracken edge lie these two hidden and related gems..the old hall inn and the paper mill inn. after a good brisk climb, tour and descent of said edge we refreshed in the paper mill inn bar with its excellent range of ales, perfectly kept, and served by very obliging staff. next it was... Thank you the excellent review. Our service is meant to be attentive, but certainly informal and from a distance. Sorry if it felt a little hurried, not our intention! We hope to see you again soon. Dan More

We had heard excellent reviews of this pub and so we had high expectations. The location is lovely and we were very fortunate to be able to sit outside in the lovely garden to enjoy our dinner. Unfortunately once we had ordered our food, it took 40 mins to arrive and the waitress was quite rude when we asked where... More

Thank you for the review. I remember well speaking with you, it was a sunday afternoon bank holiday weekend and the sun was shinning. We are used to being very busy and as such are very efficient at getting food out of the kitchen quickly, having said that we do prepare everything from fresh and during busy times there can... More

We stayed here with another couple for 2 nights recently, and were delighted to have found such a gem. There seem to be 4 rooms in the Old Hall itself and another 4 in the opposite pub (with the same owners) which is where we stayed. The rooms were very recently decorated, and the décor was very nice, the bathroom... More

I have been here many times before to eat and the food is usually excellent along with good service, friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. However, Something is slipping on the quality front as both our meals were ordered with fries that were overcooked, dark brown and chopped very small. The peas were served in a red hot container that... More
