I cannot rate this place highly enough. It was first rate all round. When you come in it is basically a pub so you won't get a massive fanfare, but the bar staff/landlord deal with checking you in. They were so nice and the poor young girl behind the bar who took us to our room even helped me lug... More

The anchor hotel is a lovely place. The staff were so helpful and kind. Stayed in their family room which was clean, quiet and comfortable. The food (breakfasts and dinners) were excellent, good value for money, great taste and good full plate.

If you happen to be in the area on a Sunday don't miss the opportunity to try The Anchor's Sunday Roasts. Fresh meat, huge portions (we couldn't even finish our small ones), plenty of colourful vegetables, massive Yorkshire puddings, delicious gravy, and a really friendly service. Also love the place for its history going back to 1422.

Stayed overnight after a wedding at Langley castle. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious, and the service was very good. Doesn't look much from the outside but good value for money.

We stayed at The Anchor on Wednesday 14th November on route home. Having traveled down from Edinburgh and just ended up around 5pm in Haydon Bridge without having booked anywhere in advance. After phoning a few local B&B's without success as it was the end of season for some we then call in at the Anchor Inn, staff really accommodating,... More

We stayed here Friday the 2nd of November and had a lovely time. We stayed in the Hadrian Room and it was beautiful, inside the room is like being in a 5 star hotel. There was a massive king head, nice oak furniture and a spotlessly clean bathroom with a huge bath. We had a lovely chilled out time exploring... More

We went here on the 5th of Oct after a day at Hexham races. I had been several times before for the Sunday lunch which is always excellent and the portions so big there is always food left over. This was the first time I had ordered food other than a Sunday roast and was informed it was a new... More

I attended my sister's fortieth birthday party at the Anchor on Saturday 6th October. Whilst it was not a huge party we were made to feel very welcome and the staff were exceptionally helpful and warm, as were the owners. The room we had was in the bar but private and the buffet food was of a very high standard.... More

Stayed at this Hotel last weekend while doing a charity walk along Hadrians Wall. Had pleasant evening on Saturday evening sat on Patio overlooking bridge and river, watching lonely heron searching for food - salmon not playing ball. When sun went in we had a superb meal of Rib Eye steak with garlic sauteed potatoes - brilliant!! Up early in... More
