Had a lovely stay at Thornley House, Eileen and Shelia were more than welcoming, and her cats are adorable. The breakfast was freshly cooked and very good, we cant wait to go back to Thornley House and the very friendly village of Allendale. If you are on O2 network, there is no service around Allendale,so my weekend break was perfect.

This is a wonderfully friendly B&B that feels just like being at home - if you love cats and other animals that is. We stayed here for one night and all told were very happy with everything. Its a lovely old stone house set back from the road along a shared drive. Our room was spacious, light and comfortable. Beautifully landscaped gardens leading to idylic Northumbrian countryside walks, Thornley House is the perfect getaway from London. But it is Eileen's warm welcome and stories of travels to faraway places which really makes the stay here; and of course the very friendly cats. Definitely recommended and already planning my third stay.
