If staying in York, you must stay here! The rooms are big and very clean. The food was excellent and the outdoor space was perfect. Free parking, free wifi, and great breakfast. What sets this hotel apart is the staff. Duty manager Greg and head waiter Solomon took great care with us. They even booked our rooms for the rest... More

Location of this hotel is excellent with free parking, however there were a few things that weren't good which make it not worth the £139 we paid. Nothing in the room matched, it just looked so basic and mismatched- the shower curtain was really bad, the bath room towels had stains on them. The tv is tiny and wall mounted... More

This was our 4th or 5th stay at the hotel (I've lost count now!) - always our first choice when staying in York. This hotel simply cannot be beaten for its location and its free car park. The staff are always friendly and polite Although the decor in the hotel is past its first flush of youth, the rooms are... More

We have just come back from a 2 night stay at the Monkbar, for my husbands birthday, we had not visited York before, but looked for a hotel of good standard, not overly expensive and where we could park the car safely, without charge and we found it all at The Monkbar. A great located hotel, friendly staff and interesting... More

We booked a room here for a reunion with friends and there were 14 of us in total. We chose to have a dinner, bed and breakfast rate for convenience. We were extremely impressed with the hotel in general and the friendly staff who went out of their way to assist us. As I have a Diamond Best Western card,... More

This is a modern hotel but not a "boutique", rather simply very comfortable and in a great location, near to the station but far enough away from the centre to avoid excessive noise. I had the best night's sleep I have had in a long while; the food was superb, the staff attentive and efficient. I would recommend this hotel... More
