Very pleasant pub/hotel situatued right by the City Walls. Ideally located for York's many attactions. Clean room with comfortable bed, very pleasant, efficient and helpful staff. The pub has a great selection of beers and the toilets - including the Gents - were very clean. Actually the cleanest of all we had to visit in York. We arrived late morning... More

The White Horse rooms are above a pub which you enter through a side door, we had read reviews that there is a stagnant smell when you enter the upstairs accommodation, which there was but you soon didn't notice it after a few minutes, when talking in the local pub, the locals inform us that the drainage system in York... Accommodation is pretty basic but ok because it was cheap and central. Above a pub but Friday night ok, subdued murmurs from the pub. Unfortunately full flight party/karaoke on sat night, either need v good at plugs or to join the. Party until it stops. Otherwise check on"festivities" before u book otherwise may not be pleasant.

Stayed at the White Horse in September 2012. Situated by the Art Gallery, close to the Yorkshire Museum, and over the road from Bootham Bar and The Minster. Steps up from Bootham Bar lead you onto the best bit of the Wall Walk (overlooking the Minster). Centre of mediaeval York is only a few minutes away. So as you can... More

Stayed at The White Horse from 21st -23rd September 2012. We didn't book a breakfast so can't comment. We stayed in room 1, which was spacious but my goodness what a creaky bed. i swear if i breathed too loudly it would creak lol. The bathroom was decent size but sometimes there was a bad smell as they use the... More

this visit was a birthday treat for my boyfriend, we found the hotel and staff to be excellent and the breakfast was amazing. However the only thing that spoilt our visit was the £40 parking fine we received. On our arrival knowing parking in York is horrendous we asked the girl who showed us to our room where was the... York can be quite an expensive place to stay at the weekend, but this was worth it - £150 for 2 people on friday/saturday night with a good quality breakfast. Separate entrance to the pub is good too. Good location if, like us, you are doing the tourist thing! The only reason I haven't given 5 out of 5 was... More
