Stayed here 2 nights in 2 singles. Exterior slightly tatty but not overly so- just needs a coat of paint. Nice welcoming couple, small clean single rooms with tea and coffee, biscuits and en- suite. Absolutely cracking breakfast with a surprising amount of choice- full English, vegetarian English, poached eggs on toast, boiled eggs and Whitby kippers etc. Plus orange... More

Carole and Tony made us welcome immediately. Breakfast was very good and the rooms very clean. The only thing that let it down was not having a proper shower, only a showerhead to use over the bathtub, which was very difficult to do as there was no shower curtain.

We were happy to be able to get a late booking here for Folk Week and booked through the tourist office. The room was at the top of the house - lots of steps. It was clean and had usual tea coffee etc. The venting on the bathroom could do sorting and you cant leave the bathroom window open at... More

My husband and I went with our son and we had a double and single room. We go to Whitby for a short break most years and always stay on the West Cliff. We enjoyed our stay at The Captain's Lodge.First impressions were a little disappointing as I felt the exterior could do with a good painting. However, inside it... More

Two of us stayed in single rooms prior to an all day fishing trip from the harbour. Rooms were clean and comfortable but somewhat dated: > old style portable TV with a set top aerial > bath but no shower > kettle had to be placed on the floor We had booked B&B but left before breakfast due to an... Came to Whitby for a few days with family, not bad although did feel that £70 per night for familly room for 1 adult and 2 kids both under 5 was a bit steep, as on the brochure it did say under 5's were free, but non the less still a comfortable stay with very friendly hosts. Room was of... More
