Used to like it as it was (The Golden Lion) and stayed probably on about 10 different occasions, although the rooms clearly required some updating. The cost of the rooms is now considerably higher then it was. In fact i wouldn't pay the rack rate now but at £65 including breakfast for 1 in a double room it wasn't bad... More

We met with some friends here and went to the lion for Lunch. On arrival it looked very impressive and teh menu looked very tatsy. that was the good part. We ordered and to be fair we waited about 15 mins before the food came out. On arrival it looked very nice. My wifre had ordered the beefburger and when she... More

The Lion as a local Inn has gained the reputation of offering a good quality, value for money, lunch and dinner menu popular with both tourists and local diners. I am disappointed the you clearly came to us on one of our few off days as you have probably seen from our other reviews this is not our usual standard.... More

A very friendly hotel with excellent food. Note however that there is no on site car park and that the nearest public park is across the road but pedestrian access is through doors in a little shopping alley which may be closed out of business hours. Not a big problem but a bit of a nuisance. More

Ok, I realise this hotel gets some pretty good reviews and, for the price you would expect it to (about £110 per night B&B). We however found 'The Lion' to be no more than average and certainly not good value for money. The main road location, in the heart of Settle is good (there is a car park very near... More

Firstly thank you for taking the time to leave a review, I am disappointed that did not enjoy some aspects of your stay i.e. the bath hook for the back of your bathroom door and the heating not working in your room. If only we had known at the time there was a problem with your heating I am sure... More

We really enjoyed our stay at the Lion in Settle. Its really well located for great walks throughout the Dales. The bar and restaurant area are a great mix of traditional and contemporary. We loved the open fire in the bar area. The rooms are a decent size and simply but tastefully decorated. The rooms had clearly been recently renovated... More

Stopped by at 6 one evening without a reservation. Restaurant booked out but could have our meal in the bar area. Very good menu. Meals were excellent although serving sizes were a bit on the small side for a pub. Service was very good. More

Here's an idea- If you are going to sell yourself as a high-end country restaurant with rooms, how about employing some suitable staff to start with. Not sullen teenagers, who hang around the bar with their mates when off duty. One (staff or mate- it wasn't clear) was quite drunk at lunch time and swearing so loudly that an elderly... More

The Lion as a local Inn has gained the reputation of offering a good quality, value for money, lunch and dinner menu popular with both tourists and local diners. Bad language, and unsavory behaviour is not tolerated at The Lion and we are really sorry that this instance occurred causing embarrassment to guests. That particular customer you refer to has... We enjoyed our stay at the Lion - the staff was extremely friendly, accommodating and efficient, the food, delicious, the nice little touches (such as the hand-made Yorkshire mugs in the room) as well as the lovely atmosphere, created by the open fire and the bustle of visitors in the bar, made for a real treat. The beds were very... More

Having spent a night at a most unsatisfactory Inn in nearby Giggleswick (see separate review!) we went for dinner at The Lion and, liking it's atmosphere, appearance and food, asked if they had a family room available. They did, we moved, and how happy we were to have done so: a large, clean, comfortable room with all creature comforts and... More
