Stayed at this hotel one night for business reasons. The reception staff was wonderful and really helpful. The feel of the hotel is nice if a bit old-fashioned. The room however was a big disappointment. I booked this on a cheap rate but some things were a bit too on the cheap. The room and its furniture were really old.... More

Hotel was booked last minute through my company. Has a single room in the "servants quarters" at the top of the building, to say I had the broom cupboard would not be an exageration. The room was extremely cold, (draughts from all areas of the room) enough to warrant a request for a blanket, the radiator was behind a dressing... More

The staff in the hotel are lovely, very professional and very helpful. The room was huge, clean and comfortable. The TV wasn't easy to view from the bed as it was low and pointing down (couldn't be altered) but okay. The radiator was very hot but, unfortunately, this was negated by the draught through the sash window. The bathroom was... More

The receptionist was very pleasant on my arrival and my room was spacious and had a very comfortable bed. The tv was quite small but it wasn't an issue for me as I didn't watch it during my stay. At breakfast, the tea was in a large pot which must have been used for coffee at some stage. I realised... More

I regularly stay in the North East for business reasons and usually stay at the Thistle in Middlesbrough, due to the lateness of my booking I opted for this place. Pulled up to the hotel quite late, around 22.45 to be told that food was finished; ok thats fine but most hotels do an all night sandwich service which is... More

A really nice old fashioned hotel. The greeting I had from reception was excellent, the dining room staff equally so. The room was really nice with a bed that could have coped with about ten on it! Slightly olde worlde but I quite like that. Supper in the Italian restaurant was delightful, garlic mushrooms which were really nice and a... More

Stayed just the one night. Room clean enough but peeling wallpaper on the ceiling and a TV too low on the floor to be watchable from the bed without gymnastics let it down. The internet was also not working. I gave the Restaurant a miss - A cheap pizza may be great value but its not what I'm looking for... More

Stayed for two nights. Room wasn't ready when we arrived but cleaners got straight at it. Clean, modern room. Friendly staff, not the best location. Ate in restaurant both nights. Food excellent and superb value for money, worth going back just for the restaurant. More
