Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My sister had her wedding reception at the Hotel 10 + years ago and had always planned to go back and stay a night due to the location. The lady who was working on the reception on Saturday afternoon (16th March) could not have looked more uninterested or happy to see people turn up to check in. She told us to hit the QR code and walked off. We filled out the info on our phones which seemed a little odd as they only had to take our name and check us in. Room was fine & clean. The area is great for chilling or taking in a pint or hitting a nice place to eat. At the weekend this part of London is nice & quiet which is great. Breakfast was okay but not brilliant. Suggest they invest in a juice machine rather than two glass jar things that are painfully slow to deliver any juice. If they had some more cheerful attitude to people turning up and be on hand with a smile this would be a 5 star review. We recently stayed at another hotel and we loved the fact that people welcomed you into the hotel and asked if we needed anything i.e. any directions to other parts of the hotel or maybe a trains station etc. Not rocket science to look happy and give this hotel a good vibe.

Third time stopping here and will likely be my first choice when visiting London. Rooms clean and comfortable with nespresso machine, kettle, safe, ironing board, complimentary water and chocolates. It's a bit of a shame the minibars are now screwed shut, although there is a vending machine in reception that sells everything from toothpaste to crips and fizz (though we only noticed this on leaving, I did like to use them as an in room fridge. Staff were excellent, friendly and polite both in reception and at breakfast and the breakfast was tasty with a decent choice. It's nestled away in a quiet, secluded square. Excellent base if you want to stop somewhere thats much quieter of a weekend and travel about. Plenty of bars and restaurants and a handy late night Tesco express just round the corner. We will be back next time we're in London.

Our fourth Malmaison and this didn’t disappoint. A quiet oasis in the middle of the city, with a truly splendid location next to the Charterhouse. Stay not without a couple of very minor glitches, but the key measure for us is how they are addressed and the staff here are simply excellent. Breakfast offerings were superb and varied. The breakfast teams were fabulous on both days, notably V and Julia on Sunday who dealt with the packed room admirably, and for whom nothing was too much trouble.

A haven of comfort and peace within a stones throw of all that London has to offer. A wonderful welcome from Victor set the tone for our start - we felt right at home and enjoyed the most relaxing weekend we’ve ever had in London. Fabulous Italian restaurant just a short walk from the hotel and finished off the evening with amazing cocktails from the hotel bar. Would definitely stay again.

An excellent hotel. Victor on the front desk looked after us so very well, the room was perfect (quiet, cosy, dark) and the breakfast was delicious. The croissants were especially good. We also stayed for dinner - also very good, lovely menu, the corn ribs, the fries, the cocktails were all really great. The staff in the restaurant were also super kind and friendly too. We will definitely return. Oh, and it’s located absolutely perfectly for anything you’re doing at the Barbican.

Just returned from a nights stay at Malmaison London. We had an long, tiring journey into London due to a rail replacement bus service, however the lovely Victor on Reception gave us a room upgrade to make our stay more enjoyable! We were given a lovely room overlooking Charterhouse Square! Thank you Victor, you made our day and we had a great time. Breakfast was really good too, lots of choice and a tasty cooked breakfast included.

Excellent location and really good service from staff. Violeta and Jamie were fantastic in restaurant in terms of providing advice on food and wine. Daniel on the front desk got our TV to work! It’s a busy hotel so appreciate the personal service.
