A group of friends spent a long weekend at this beautiful cottage The place itself was spotless and clean, the beds were comfortable and resting and the seating area was well laid out with fantastic panoramic views as this was on the 1st foor. Patio doors lead out across a small grassy area and on to Conison water.. The owners... More

Beautifully set overlooking Coniston water, the Bank Ground Farm was a very welcoming place. The buildings are careworn and speak of many years of happy use. The staff here were just charming, and the sense of continuity of family ownership very strong. It was very comforting to stay in such a nice, low-key place with a good connection to the... More

Have just returned from a weeks stay at the Barn where 26 Adults, 2 teenagers, 2 children, 2 toddlers and 2 babies spent time at the Barn over the week to celebrate my 30th birthday. We had a fantastic time. A stunning location overlooking the lake and the Old man of Coniston. The Barn was not quite ready for us to... More

Lovely B&B in large old converted farmhouse complex, really friendly, high quality bedrooms with tasteful en-suite facilities, some with particularly fine views over Coniston & towards the Old Man & Wetherlam, lovely breakfast, nice touches like bowls of fresh fruit around in several places to help yourself from. Well-kept gardens, self-catering accommodation too, tea-rooms during the day. Only downside -... More

I echo the other good reviews. I loved the Swallows and Amazons connection. The farmhouse is a classic rambling structure with older style furnishings, but everything well maintained and the bathroom fittings definitely modern. The whole property is in excellent order and the owners/hosts are lovely people. We had a wonderful time and thoroughly recommend it.

This time our family stayed with another in The Stables. Life on a farm in a magical location ticked on around us as before and co-owner Jonathon was as attentive and friendly as usual including super-speedy and empathetic responses to a few minor issues we had on our arrival (faulty light bulb etc.) and received and unpacked our Tesco order... I came across this place by accident when I dropped in for a cup of coffee. It looked interesting so I took a leaflet and my wife and I came back for one night's bed and breakfast. We had a lovely room overlooking the lake which was very comfortable and well-equipped. Breakfast was good, in a lovely dining room on... More

We were blessed with some great weather in July when we stayed at this lovely and evocative B&B. I will never forget the beautiful location or the friendliness of the people. The room was beyond charming, with an amazing, luxurious bath/whirlpool and lots of character. There was so much space downstairs to sit, have a drink (bar on the honour... More

My daughter and I had a very comfortable room with a nice bath and shower. We were there for a half marathon run in early July. We were not lucky with weather but somehow it hardly mattered with the cozy sitting rooms, delicious breakfasts and teas and a lovely dinner on the Saturday evening. The countryside and lake are beautiful... More

We were so lucky to stumble upon this farmhouse on a drive around Coniston Water. Although the rain was relentless during our stay, we were in extreme warmth and comfort and luxury and loved the sublime views of the lake and Coniston and The Old Man from our rooms. Jonathan was very welcoming and nothing too much trouble. Breakfasts are... More
