I found the other reviews are accurate and the Old Vicarage indeed deserves its star rating. My wife and I had a spur of the moment one night stay which we thoroughly enjoyed. The owners and staff are very friendly without interfering in any way. Would stay here again. More

The Old Vicarage is a cracking B&B right in the centre of Ambleside. Our excellent room had a whirlpool bath, large walk in shower, and a super king-size bed - everything was spotlessly clean. We chose the Garden Suite as out dog couldnt climb stairs. Although this was quite expensive for a B & B it was like being in a mini holiday apartment but without the cooking facilities.
