This pub could do with trying harder at being a B & B. it's lack lustre and dull and they can't even be bothered to do breakfast( you are instructed to go to a cupboard on the landing and help yourself?!!!!???) It's more like a hostel. And it needn't be because its clean and the room was decorated fairly well.

Great venue this. It is close enough to the town centre to be central but far enough away to be quiet. They have some lovely rooms which are clean, spacious and very reasonbly priced. staff very welcoming and helpful. Meal lovely, good value and lots of it. Room very luxurious, very comfortable. My fiancee and I went for a meal, nothing was too much trouble and the meals were absolutely gorgeous, we asked to see the rooms and the bar lady showed is round, she was so helpful and really friendly, we didn't stay there but arw definately going to in the future.

Spent just one night there, and sadly had a 4am start the next day, so didn't spend as much time in the lovely comfy bed in the lovely room as I'd have liked. I can't fault anything at all, and the staff that I met were very friendly and helpful.

Friday 2nd November we decided to have lunch at this establishment we arrived at 14.15. Unfortunately our colleagues train was late so she did not arrive until 14.30. just spent a great weekend at the whittington and cat. we had booked into the green room but where upgraded to the apartment, which was fantastic. hotel was lovely and warm and the food was great, thank you chef. i had the homemade beef, kidney and ale pie which was delicious, would have had pudding but i was too full....
