Stayed for five nights, one in a double other four in a family room as we booked. Both rooms spotless but both beds were creaky even though mattresses were comfortable. Plenty of room in both but extra space in family room well worth any extra. Parking at hotel £7.50 for 24 hours and a two minute walk from city centre.... More

I stayed here 3 nights (21-24 May). I was booked into a twin room (my fault), however the friendly receptionist got it changed to a double room without any problem. One thing that does bug me is that if you want to check in early (I did) you get charged £10 for the privilege. Why do they charge for this... More

I've stayed in a Travelodge before and was familiar with the bare bones amenities and service but the Chaucer Central went well beyond that. First, this Travelodge did not even offer a hair dryer (you have to request to borrow one) and only a couple of tv channels actually have reception. Second, my room did not get cleaned one of... See my previous review for overall opinion, but recently (April 2012) a private company set up a pay-and-display parking obligation at the hotel. This costs £1 per hour or £7.50 per 24 hours and you can only pre-book or pay for one 24-hour period at a time. IF YOU HAVE A RESERVATION CONFIRMED WHILE IT WAS STILL FREE-OF-CHARGE, YOU'RE ENTITLED... More

Although my room was a supersaver, I was instantly offered an upgrade. The room was spacious and clean, with high windows and a nice view onto street. Having forgotten toothpaste, there was a vending machine downstairs so I bought some there, with a member of staff going into the till at the bar (at around 2am - there is 24hr... More

Having stayed in quite a few Travelodge's I'm used to the 1960's tower block look. This is in a much older building and suffered because of it. The good points were the friendly and helpful receptionist James and a nice comfortable bed. It's also very close to the city centre which is great if you want to go and eat... More
